...and that company is Valve! Everything seemed like a normal boring day when I decided to logon to Steam and start my first real renegade playthrough of Mass Effect until this happened:

My Steam account has appearantly been de-activated! I had games for over 250 Euro on that account and now I can't play them due to unknown reasons! If Valve doesn't get it re-activated again I will be a very pissed (and sad) man... Anyone else got into a similar situation over here? You managed to get your accounts back?

I've had my steam account for 6 years and never had an issue. They don't usually deactivate an account for no reason. Did you contact steam support https://support.steampowered.com/ ?

Which is why Steam is a pile of bull. Even without it you should be able to play the games you bought.

Yep, contacted them at once after realizing they deactivated it, gave them some photos with cd keys and stuff for my physical copies of Empire Total War and The Orange Box too. I suspect someone has hijacked it, a friend of mine said he recieved spam from my steam account a few weeks ago, but I changed my password to something that I thought'd be safer. (something with a few numbers, an exclamation mark, capital letters, minor case letters etc.) Thought that'd be enough, appearantly it wasn't, if hijacking is the reason my Steam acc was deactivated... Otherwise I have no idea what could've happened!

How long does Steam support wait to respond to stuff like this anyway?

And yeh, if I buy a physical copy of a game I damn well want to be able to play it even without the Steam acc....

Can you still access your games in offline mode? If so, you could at least play Mass Effect while waiting for Valve to solve your issues.

Nope, can't get into offline mode since "there is no Steam login info on this PC". Appearantly my login attempts made it impossible get into offline mode now

Too bad. Haven't had any reason to contact Valve myself. But I know people that have. According to them it usually takes a couple of days.

I hear their customer support is second to none. Didn't they give away a metric ton of free copies of L4D2 over some snafu that happened recently?

Yeah, they banned loads of Modern Warfare 2 players for no appearant reason. And as an excuse everyone banned got a copy or two of L4D2. A friend of mine was one those who got banned, but he already owned L4D2 so I ended up getting his copy. Which reminds me I should play that game some day...

Indeed it is! But now my faith in my passwords everywhere are in doubt instead...

Speaking of Valve and such, when's Portal 2 coming out again? 2011 something right? Can't it come sooner?
