Star Trek Online, the first Star Trek MMORPG will be released on the 2nd of February 2010!
Open Beta starts this Tuesday!! :mah:

I've pre-ordered the Gold Edition from Amazon which comes with all these goodies
Spoiler

It's £24.97 right now, so if anybody is interested in playing, and lives in Europe, I'd suggest you get this version, especially since it's so cheap compared to the Steam digital download (around €50+ )
I know Tom and Joey are excited, and as you can guess I can't wait :rabbid:
Anyone else going to be playing? :X3:

That reminds me that I was supposed to have a guaranteed spot in the closed beta. Never got a mail though, I guess they expected me to apply anyway, the fuckers.

I'll try it out in the open beta though but knowing Cryptic I'm not touching the retail version until I know for sure that the game is good and they're not going to screw it up once it actually hits retail. I'd hate to end up with another Champions Online.

I took the chance and ordered it from Steam, the digital deluxe package so I could have some added goodies.

I had to take the chance, for one reason and one reason alone, I love the Star Trek IP. I am far from being a card carrying member of some local chapter of a Star Trek fan club, going to conventions dressed as Vulcans and whatnot. (not that there is anything wrong with that) But I grew up watching TNG, DS9, Voyager, always being hooked so when the game was announced I kinda geeked out a bit, not gonna lie.

I'm not overly sure about Cryptic's track record with games I haven't done too much research into it, but I have always been a look before you leap kinda gamer especially with MMO's. Case in point I own an unopened copy of The Matrix Online, that I preordered before playing the open beta, and forgot to cancel when I realized how bad the game was. Now its a trophy.

I really hope they have some great people working on this IP, because some may say "no one could ever screw up a Star Trek based MMO" anyone who thinks that I tell them to take a peak at "Star Wars Galaxies" a game based off a stellar IP that started off decent in my eyes but the good people (and I use the term "good" loosely) at SoE got their hands on the game and just destroyed it. Lets face it there hasn't been many really good Star Trek games...let hope this is one..

I am totally excited to take on the Borg, and kill me some Gorn.

I'm pretty geek'd for it too.

Downloading the beta client now. With any luck i'll be ready to launch this tuesday. Also I don't know how you can get beta codes now. Maybe some media site are offering some. But most pre-order sites for the game have since stopped offering codes for pre-orders.

Also it would be cool to at least get in some fleet actions as a community. Show them Klingons who's boss!

I decided to be adventurous and toy with the custom race feature. I ended up creating a Romulan.

That is of course if I can actually get in...

EDIT:

Here is my Character

EDIT again: If you want to find me ingame you can do so by messaging Vreetan@Kaiserhawl

I'm still downloading the beta client, after 2 days of non-stop downloading, it's finally at 97% with an average download speed of 25Kb/s. :-( :-(

So far I'm liking it. It's still pretty buggy but what else can you expect from a beta. Though it seems more stable today than yesterday.

Again if you want help just call.

I can't wait to get a new class of ship though. This Miranda refit is a real drag. I bet all the Orions laugh at my ship when it comes into view.

I'd play if I wasn't using a computer that's the modern day computing equivalent of a Ford Pinto.

So far the game is fun, I have about 4-5 RL friends in on the Beta as well, the servers seem to be getting more and more stable, the visuals are great, but as Kaiser said, the beginner ships BLAH, getting tired of it already.

I am a Science Officer, so I know my next ship won't be cool..but anything is an improvement from a Miranda Refit..

Rylek@Mr.Mulligan

If anyone wants to play
