This could be promising. I felt that the first Silent Hill movie, despite it's creative licensing and manipulation of the original story (IE Female lead instead of a male lead), it was still a fucking awesome game to movie adaptation. Hopefully the sequel is awesome, and hopefully it has nothing major to do with the original characters and instead... maybe... just MAYBE... takes the plot of Silent Hill 2 and does it some justice.

I'm happy to see whatever they come up with, (Though it does worry me since Gans wouldn't be involved) ... However, I don't see how ensuring no involvement from the first movies characters means it'd be better (or worse). I mean, as far as an adaptation goes, the way the first movie ended would be a pretty simple way to bring Chris' character in place of James. The setup is relatively similar.

Also, I have no issues with Sean Bean, even if most of his character's screen time was completely useless.

I really wish they had more sean bean in that movie, or make him James sunderland in the next one. He was awesome in the first movie, in fact they should have called it sean bean the movie, with his many movie personas like trevelylian. :mmm:. But yeah silent hill was a fantastic movie.

I would absolutely love to see sean beans character get wraped up in silent hill looking for his missing wife in a james sunderland'esque turn in the 2nd silent hill movie, in fact I think it would trump the first, and the first was a great movie.

The first one was okay until it turned into a Monty Python and the Holy Grail scene. I can't take a group of people yelling "BURN THE WITCH" seriously. Ever. Combine that with a shitty Sixth Sense derivative ending and you get a disappointed Braky, after realizing that the film was written by Oscar-Winning Pulp Fiction co-writer Roger Avary and Brotherhood of the Wolf Director Christophe Gans. I expected more from them; Gans had the visuals down, but Avary just seemed like he gave up on the script near the end. I have hated it less over time though.

Regardless, I think the only way for it to be truly done right is for David Lynch to take it on, but I'm dreaming there.

The Room is a favorite of mine. I don't get why people shit on it. It was scary and had a cool plot. It actually reminds me of that one Hotel movie that came out... y'know... that guy is an author of the paranormal and goes to this haunted hotel room and then suddenly the room is in a separate universe/reality from everyone else.

1408, which was actually pretty good, I was surprised when I saw it.

I'd say, The Room is actually scarier, though.
