My topic suggestion:
The history of sexual content in video games.
From the days of humping a naked Native-American chick in Custer's Revenge, to the shocking revealing of a digital cock-a-doodle-doo in GTA: The Lost and Damned.

This week's topic seems interesting. But I really disagree with the whole "omg Wii is ruining gaming, boohoo" crap people spout.

I don't believe the Wii is ruining the industry but Nintendo has just taken a diferent direction with what games they make but they focusing too much on the casual side of it for parents and grandparetns etc and they need to balence that with hardcore Nintendo franchises if they really want to impress people they should reboot Starfox and do lylat wars on Wii with online, kid icarus but not the shit concept art one people saw but a 3d 2d type scroller like in brawl for subspace emmiasary, donkey kong should get a reboot also without the whole music thing. They also need to keep releasing the best of the NES and SNES onto the virtual console.

At least that's what I think. :-)

Anyone else's thoughts?

Here's a topic suggestion:

"Achievements, 3 years later, do you think they've effected how people play, purchase, and enjoy games?"

Here's a suggestion for all y'all.

Currently I have just started playing Street Fighter IV. This is my first SF game, and even though I've been good at, amongst other fighters, Soul Calibur, Super Smash Bros., and even Marvel vs. Capcom, I am apparently terrible at this game, and it is really frustrating me, mostly because it makes me feel as though my credibility as a gamer is now in question. I mean I have far too much trouble beating Seth on Very Easy, let alone trying any difficulty past that.

So in light of my current failures, I have come up with a few ideas for some topics that can be discussed on the show.

1. What sort of moments in your gaming careers have caused you the most frustration? This can be about any frustrating thing about gaming. It can be about games that frustrated you (ever play I Wanna Be The Guy? I love that game but it will frustrate and infuriate most). It can be about hardware or gaming news that frustrated/frustrates you. Heck, it can even be about the gaming culture in general that frustrates you. Have you ever broken anything over a game? Let's all share in your anger!

2. I suck at Street Fighter at the moment. You don't. You've played it for so long that you've become really, really good. So you can talk about games that you think you are very good at. What games are you a cut above the rest when you play? How do you think you got that good? What is just playing it a lot? Were there games you were naturally good at? Did you need to practice a lot? As a counterpoint, you can also talk about games that no matter how much you play, you never seem to get very good at. Maybe it's a whole genre that you aren't very good at. Tell us your strengths and weaknesses.

4. Quality of Game Peripherals

Here's an interesting one, flash games, games like "N" which is very customizable, also Facebook has a billion of them with leader boards and stuff, newgrounds has some amazing ones as well. Just thought it would change things up a bit for the show.

The best music in video games, soundtracks or themes that are iconic and everyone knows.

Can Apple's iPhone challenge the DS? Is the iPhone an alternative handheld gaming device?

Also, guys keep checking the comment thread Link set up, I did a comment from last week's show since I can't voicemail because of my Mic being broken but you guys don't seem to check it.

The Games you HAVE to play once in a lifetime.

The games that everyone must experience once. Old school ones obviously the original Mario, Mario 3 as well, perhaps Contra, Super Metroid. For today, the original Halo, Mass Effect, Fallout 3 and Zelda Ocarina even though that's sorta in the middle.

Theres so many more but I came up with those just now. Perhaps it could be an extra long show than normal too to cover most of them seeing as your RPG and Click and Point Game Podcasts were very lackluster due to time.

Or even a Top Ten, Perhaps 5 old school and 5 modern, Maybe two separate lists with a part 1 and 2. Or Maybe a Top 20 if needed.

Innovative Wii and DS games. In other words, games that actually make good use of the touch screen or the motion control without being gimmicky.

A good example for the DS would be:

Kirby Canvas Curse

Just to double post...

Sims 3 comes out today. I think it'd be interesting to have a show dedicated to "Simulation" style games (mostly of the Maxis variety) and how they've shaped the world of Casual gaming.

I have allready suggested this in a callin, but ill post it here as well.

It would be awesome with a show about underrated games - the games that didn't get the attention they deserved - like for instance Beyond Good and Evil.

Amazing moments in video games.
For example I was recently playing The Darkness for the first time and when I saw that To Kill a Mockingbird was playing on TV I was amazed, to see that movie being played on a little TV in-game just wowed me. Also other moments could include that I can think off are the opening of Metroid Prime seeing Samus in 3D was amazing. Just certain moments in games that blew you away whether it shocked you or wowed you.

I really do hope you guys still read this thread, there's some good suggestions here but you always seem to pick your own topics now.

Heres a thought. There seems to be a trend in the industry with A list developers giving way their independence to large publishing giants like EA, Take Two, and to a lesser extent Activision. Do you think that this is because of the economic climate or due to the staggering costs that it takes to create games in this generation? Does losing the indepence of the studio hurt the IP in both name, and the actual games that are released?

My suggestion is the most annoying game you couldn't stop playing.

Street Fighter 2010 comes to mind due to it's lack of save spots and unlimited continues.
I just couldn't help playing until I finished it.

okay the suck the D thing. I'm posting this because everyone went crazy about it. i was drunk and playing donkey kong 2 and hanging out with some friends so i decided to call the prototype about it due to the fact that i agreed with handsome toms statement regarding lack of challenge in recent games. Afterwards i convinced my friend Jen to call because i've shown her many of the podcasts and other videos on the site and has enjoyed what i have showed her, she was quite intoxicated as well. i asked her to call in and leave a question not expecting she would say that at all. i talked to her about it after the june 22 podcast came up and heard it. she has not heard the podcast but knows they played what she said, her only comments on the matter was that she thought it was funny that it was played on the podcast. i totally encourage tom or mike to call her back catching her off guard. shes totally chill and knowing her she will be a good sport about. shes quite attractive as well not that it has anything to do with it.

As up and coming journalists in the industry, I wondered if could discuss the recent (within the last 5 years) rise in the tabloid ale nature the video game industry has taken and your thoughts on impartial journalism and privacy. There have been headline events such as :

- Jeff Gerstmann's firing from Gamespot and subsequent editors quitting over it

- Ziff Davis's treatment of it's staff

- Cliffy B's behavior at events

- John Remero's poo flinging at former colleagues
