Forum rules

Rules

1. All normal forum rules apply.

2. NO JOKES! This isn't the topic for funny pictures or wise ass remarks.

3. Serious topics need to be well thought out when written, they also need to have well thought out replies. Please try to write more than a single sentence. Back up your opinion with facts or something else.

4. Keep a cool and calm head, especially about things such as politics, gay rights, religion, etc. People are allowed to have differing opinions than you, please don't view them as personal attacks, please don't start any sort of major drama or get all offended here. In the end, we're all friends still.

5. Use common sense when posting in here, which simply means ask yourself if this is something really worth posting, are you intentionally being mean to someone, if your topic is ridiculously controversial (IE. Baby Eating), are you accidentally bashing Christianity on Easter Day, etc.

6. In your posts, please try to clarify whether you're speaking based on fact or personal experiences as it will lead to less misunderstandings. Please do not state opinions as if they were facts without proof to back it up.

7. NO DRUNK POSTING.

Failure to comply with any of these rules (additional rules may be added in the future as needed) will result in a warning or perhaps a banning from the 'Why So Serious?' sub-forum. The severity of the punishment works in tandem with the severity of your actions.

The people that serve you I'm talking about is everyone that is like the cashier at your preferred grocery store, the butcher in the deli department, or any one else that works jobs of that nature. The reason I say this because I'm having to hear my mom tell me stories about idiots that jump all over her and fellow employees for shit that you do or crap they have no control over. I have nice set of examples for this.

1. Ok my mom had just got to go on break and proceeded to head towards the break room. Well during that a little kid zipped in front of her on those Wheelies shoes and they nearly collided which would have ended with my mom landing on top of the child. Now my mom said "Be careful darlin'. You shouldn't be skating around in here because I almost tripped over you." Then guess who pops up but good ol' daddy dearest jumping at my mom going "If you want my kid corrected come and tell me!"

The Heart lesson: Keep an eye on your kids. If you don't want a complete stranger telling your child something make sure they are by you at all times. Because if an employee can get close enough to tell your kid not to do something someone else could kidnap them so fast it will make your head spin.

2. Another incident that involves my mother which has happened on multiple occasions and I'll use my two favorite. A group of girls were trying to buy a few packs of wine coolers and my mom asked for all of their IDs. They had argued with her and ended up not getting their refreshments. A pair of college boys were buying a 12pack of beer and once again my mom asked for both IDs. The one that placed the beer for my mom to swipe over the scanner began to be confrontational saying that his friend wasn't the one buying until his buddy metaphorically slapped him upside the head and told him the reason.

Heart Lesson: It doesn't matter if a member of your party is going to drink the alcohol with you or not. The person that is checking you out is required by law to ask for an ID and if you have someone with you then they will assume they are going to be drinking with you. If they end up selling beer to you and your buddy and said pal is underage the cashier and possibly the store itself will get in trouble by the alcoholic beverage commission of your state.

3. Now this one I have been a victim of on the customer side and I have heard stories about this happening to my mom and some of her fellow co-workers. You know those little things that you possibly swipe your debit or credit card through. Well sometimes those things go down and say you don't have the funds. Also make sure that if you get direct deposit that it went through. On black Friday my mom was working the morning blitz and this one woman started jumping on her because her debit was being denied. It was no later then six am. Her bank opened at nine. Think about it.

Heart Lesson: Don't jump on the person behind the register or blame them for your stupidity. It is not their fault when there is a glitch in the system or you got your crap mixed up.

4. One of the girls that was working in the deli department had this woman requesting a particular type of meat and a certain amount. Said girl had asked multiple times how would she like it cut to which there was no response. So she decided that she'll go with what people normally asked for. When she was finished the customer proceed to cuss her out. So much so that other customers were tempted to intervene and that girl was nearly in tears because of it.

Heart lesson in this one is: PAY A FUCKING ATTENTION!!! There is no reason for the person that is serving you to wait thirty minutes for an answer when they could be serving someone else, and this goes double if you are in the check out aisle. Those at the check out aisle shouldn't have to interrupt you while your flapping your gums to your girlfriend about how Sally Sue is a slut for flirting with your boyfriend or how easily it was to nail Betty Lou to the guys over the cell phone.

5. One of my mom's co-workers was pregnant when a man had placed a huge jug of water on the treadmill. After she scanned it and asked him to take it. Of course he asked why so she responded with that she was with child. Those things are heavy and it isn't exactly a good idea for her to lift one of those things in that condition. It ticked him off and he made her do it. Also I have heard plenty complaints about how the cashier could have the carousel/bagging area would get to the point where they have to stop and place the bags in your basket.

Heart Lesson: Be considerate to the cashier. If they have some sort of condition be it pregnancy, minor injury, or allergy be kind enough to take some of the heavier objects or items that could cause an reaction and place it in the basket yourself. This also touches the last lesson. If that bagging area is getting full to the point where the cashier has to stop please take the bags and put them in your basket too or do it before they have to do so. They have some sort of rating system called an I.P.H. where they are graded on how many people they check out with in a certain time limit and you are hurting that grade by forcing them to stop. Besides if you are in a hurry that can make things go a little bit faster.

It's people like those that were described in the stories that give me full confidence in saying that I could never work any kind of customer service job because the first person to push my buttons like that would be the person that I get fired over.
There's no reason someone should be expected to sit there with a smile and take that abuse.

besides dropping an f-bomb and getting bitched at because I stated my own opinion on "people" who served me. If you wanted people to only comment on your wall of text then state so. also CRX you were wrong in giving me those warnings when the people were just as wrong in starting shit because I stated my opinion, also the fact that I dropped a f-bomb while a whole thread about audio samples from a game turned into a giant sex fan-shit is allowed to roam free. Is it because I have decided to take the side to believe that hobo is deserving to have people just actually tell the truth?

Fuck shit ass. Saying fuck dropping the fuck bomb saying mother fucker will not get you a warming or banned. Everyone on this forum has heard the word before and its said so much online, on TV and in movies its turned into a moot phrase. Nobody has ever been warned by myself for saying fuck. Fuckity fuck fuck fuck.

This thread was about something, you and other members took it off topic. Not only off topic, but posted pictures of clowns as responce to the OP asking you and the other offenders to keep it on topic. Thats disrespectful to other memebers. Especially when someone posted something that obviously took a while to write out.

Dont post stupid stuff and thats all you have to do to be fine. Saying 'fuck the cart handlers' or whatever wasnt a warning for fuck, it was a warning for taking the conversation and thread off topic.

This part of the discussion is over. No more posts regarding it. Ill leave it up for tonight and then delete it in the morning or another mod can, so that the 'offenders' in the thread can read it.

Lets keep it on topic people.

I know what you are saying Mickey. The funny thing is that if they go to self check they are so stupid it is unbelievable. Like this one guy my mom told me about when she was working the self check. He was getting like a bunch of bananas and he had put them on the scanner then placed them in the bagging area. He got the bag alert and couldn't figure out what was wrong. So she went over took the bananas, placed them on the scanner, searched them with help off that produce button on the touch screen, and pressed the button for that particular fruit. After it registered she placed them back where he had them and headed to her station. Before she got two steps away from him he called her a bitch.

Plus another time at self check a customer made her come over and hit the debit key because that card swipe thing said "Tell cashier to hit debit key". After she did it she proceed to talk to them and this is what happened.

HeartOfSorrow Mom: You do know you could have pressed the debit key yourself?

Idiot Customer: What do you mean?

HOS M: At self check you are the cashier.

IC:  Oh.

It's too far off the original poster's concept and really, that discussion was heading towards locksville real quick. If you REALLY feel the need to discuss shit like that, make a new topic I suppose and see how long it lasts. I will state however, if the topic goes off the deep end, it'll just end up being a giant ball of "Warning Issued" for the people who cause it to go that way.

PS. Posting a picture of a clown has jackshit to do with anything. I'm moving this to the serious discussion section.

Uggh that's absolutely terrible work ethic. When I worked in retail, even if customers were wankers, I'd still be polite and try and help them. That's the job, and that's what I got paid to do, even if it was a shit wage. If you took the job understanding the role and responsibilities of a retail position, you gotta do that job, and you gotta do it properly.

I go out of my way to be nice to people working in retail. Working in retail myself, I know how much it sucks when you have to deal with assholes.

I'm usually nice and polite to customers but as my manager once said I'm not paid to take abuse.

Also it is your right to refuse a sale. If they kick up a fuss call security.

That is very true, but, the customers would usually wait to the last minute to start complaining and with how things would be yesterday with retailers there is no point because you have to deal someone else so it is just better to get rid of them fast and be done with it.

One of the greatest joys in my life is when I am in a line to purchase, rent, etc, anything and some other customer in line starts flipping the employee shit. Once that happens it is open season on the asshole customer and I am first to tell them off. I hate assholes who think that getting upset and the person taking your cash will solve your problems. For the most part once other customers start getting on the case of the asshole they will get embarrassed and shut the fuck up. Once you tell them that the person behind the register isn't the CEO of the company and has 0% input on decisions made that will get them all flustered.

One time a dude wanted to fight because of it. That was just more fuel for the fire. Seriously, you want to fight because you are acting like a jackass and everyone hates you? Ok, sure, sounds like a plan.

im gonna go with what Mickey said. theres always asshole consumers out there, and the best way to set them straight (atleast for a little) is standing up to them. takes them out of their element, and they are left speechless, unsure of what to do next.

there are guys like that who abuse rules and respect. Some blokes in the Ottawa highways like to pick up and drop people off at the bustops. One guy was talking to his son in their car in said bustop, with my bus behind him. the bus honked, and he didnt care. I walked up and said if his license plate was a G or an O for the first letter, I couldnt tell. That guy boomed out of there in 10 seconds. :-D

its amazing how people crack when you put the right words in their mouth. It aint always nice, but its effective, and sometimes is a lot better then letting them getting away with their batshittery.

I have another story that happened with my little brother.

My brother was either going on or coming off break (I cant remember which) when this kid all of a sudden takes off running down the walkway and decides to crouch down into a little ball. Now about that time a woman was coming out of the clothing department and didn't see the kid running or do his little ball thing. Why is that important? Because she tripped over the child and if my bro wasn't there to catch her she would have at least been in a little pain. So please try to keep control of your kids. I'm sure the last thing you want is some lady to sue you over something a child did.

Now that story is over I feel I should add something that I find really funny about it. When my brother caught her he had two handfuls if you know what I mean. If I wasn't such a nice sibling (well most of the time) to him I would have teased him about grabbing something at work when he already a pair he could take hold of at home any time he wanted to.
