Anyone else feeling a bit uneasy right now?

I feel like something bad could happen, but I don't know exactly why or if anything can be done about it. I just feel like my government has failed me massively.

Maybe I'm just a bit paranoid...but is anyone else worried right now?

If the we had to live out a 2nd great depression. I'd probably become a woodsman. No joke, I'm really serious about this. No money, I'd just live off of the land. Again. I am serious about this post.

itd be a good idea for those who are worried to have a plan. and no, im not suggest the bullcrap fear, like nuclear holocaust, or the Y2k. I just mean, invest in some water and matches and stuff, should anything actually do happen, and the stock market goes to complete shit, and America turns into the movie Road Warriors.

Working at a bank myself, I'm a little more concerned about losing my job than the little bit of stock tied into my 401k. Lucky for our institution, we did not participate in any subprime lending and have nothing invested in mortgage-backed securities. However, this crisis is affecting every aspect of our economy and when a bank's customers are suffering, the bank is suffering.

Actors, Musicians, Singers, Athletes, should not be paid the sums they get paid. None of those are really needed in the world. Its a form of entertainment. However, Plumbing, Construction, Teachers, and all jobs like that, Need a higher pay. There should be no reason the ones who keep the society together should be the lower class to middle class. Without them we probably would not know how to cope. With the entertainment gone, we would do things to entertain ourselves, and probably in the process get fit.

actors and musicians?

90% musicians signed to a major label actually achieve a DEBT from releasing an album, I think it work out that 1 and 10 records from a major labels actually make a profit and thats for the LABEL before it gets to the artist (http://www.music-tech.com/business.php? ... m=&ucat=2&). Most other entertainers/sportmen that get these offensively high pay contracts are a VERY small portion of the athletic community.

Also musicians getting paid less isnt gonig to solve the problem, if a band releases an album and someone buys it (Which is IF they buy it instead of download it from a torrent). I think MORE should go to the artist and not the record company that they are under, and artists should be more driven to run as much of the business side of releasing an album themselves, the resources are there.

Now as for the economy, do I think theres a problem? (stealing from Zero Puctuation) Short anwer Yes. Long answer Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees.

Canada is a major trade partner to the United States, so if theres a problem with their economy it will affect us. I think it just boils down to the concept that trickle-down economics and high-income tax breaks are just plain not working. It's a shame because "Low Tax" is a staple that many politicians use to get more votes, and it works for getting votes but subsidizing/cutting taxes to large companies doesnt mean it'll rain money down on everyone else. People need to see past this and choose someone who is actually going to try to work and fix the hole in a leaky bucket, rather than adding water to it.

We're in very interesting times though, I'm really wondering how the canadian and US elections turn out, and what's going to happen to us within the next 4 years.

That's surprisingly true, what the average american should worry about is how the next political party is going to clean this up. Unfortunately Bush is going to leave the office in a heaping shit of mess. The financial institutions under bad debt isn't helping too.

This so called 'bullet-proof' economic system just reared it's flaw and mooned everyone. It's going to happen again, it's a never ending cycle (because there is NO perfect system)

Looking at both political parties, US pretty much screwed either way, no matter if it's Democrats or Republicans. Coming from Canada, it's kinda like watching a tv-show.

Did we? The thing is different people are claiming different things. There are those who are saying the bailout would eventually fix things...but then there are others who claim the bailout would've just made things even worse...like making the US dollar completely worthless.

From what I've seen people say...it seems like no one REALLY knows how this is all going to play out either way.

All I know is...perhaps a system in which we use colored pieces of paper and coins that represent shiny rocks is a bit...I don't know...stupid. Money should be a representation of services rendered...not gold.
