What is it with these damn water temples?!!

Official criteria for any zelda game:
If the water based dungeon doesn't make you swear your tits off, it isn't a zelda game!

Oh on the subject of the water temple on Twighlight Princess I found it difficult until I realised what the whole point of the water was for and then it got easier! I loved that dungeon as it was just one big puzzle with a lot of "Eureka!" moments!

By that criterion, the original Legend of Zelda and Adventure of Link are not Zelda games, since they don't even have water-based dungeons.

DAMN IT! Nintendo are always one step ahead!

But seriously, I did know that when I wrote it, its just that the water based dungeons always seem to come up at some point during zelda talk! However I'm sure that there are a few people that would argue that Zelda 2 was not a zelda game!

Windwaker scored a lot of points for me just for originality. People complain about the formula for a zelda game being pretty much the same through each revision but wind waker was quite a bit different form the previous ones. The graphics didn't bother me but i can't say the cell shading floored me either. I definitely enjoyed the game as a whole and consider it a strong part of the zelda franchise.

Wind Waker was really cool. The art style was phenomenal, the story kicked ass and it was fun... But when you had to sail for 2 hours things got REALLY boring. Thank god that you got the warp song later on in the game... Hated the sailing, loved the rest.

Ocarina of Time is still the best Zelda though... Wind Waker isn't far away from it. But I think Twillight Princess surpasses WW on almost every point. The story wasn't as good as in Wind Waker, but the way it was told... Epic. And the graphics, sure, they weren't next-gen but I was blown away by it! It was awesome! The temples had the perfect difficulty. The only bad thing in TP was the bosses. They were cool and all, but too damned easy.

Just felt like saying all this since there was an official Zelda topic :-)

Thats what this topic is here for!

Is it me or am I the only person who actually enjoyed the sailing or the triforce search? Obviously sailing from one end of the map to the other is not great but finding your way around and exploring the unknown sea over a few squares of map (with the aid of teleportation) I found quite fun! Also the music when you set out to sea was awesome and epic!

I don't understand why some people were bitching the sky temple in TP was so damn difficult. It was so easy.

Hear, hear.

Pretty much all of them could be beaten with by doing this:

1. Hit the boss's weak spot with the item you found in the temple.
2. Hit said weak spot again and again with your sword while he's knocked down.
3. Rinse and repeat.

So it isn't just easy; it's repetitive.

My thoughts exactly. Being the type of player I am, I love the first, followed by the third, followed by Awakening, followed by Zelda II, then the rest just drop off a cliff.

When I was younger, actually about 5 years ago, though I didn't understand the appeal of the series until I finally tried it. My first foray was Windwaker and I absolutely loved it, I played it until I got up to almost the last part (only 3 triforce pieces remaining) over one summer and then had to stop. The next summer I played through OoT in about a week. Now I need to go back and finish up Windwaker so I can start on TP. Those chicken-people things freak me out though!

i don't know if it was mentioned before but does anyone here enjoy the FDS version of Zelda II as much as the NES version? i mean there are little differences but what has me going is the level up system in the FDS version. its free throughout.

I love most games in the series, but I would like to see a little bit more diversity in the coming games. Not just the usual "Complete dungeons with themes from different elements by using an item you get in the dungeon".

Oh, and I don't get the whole "Omg it's dark and mature"-hype that was surrounding Twilight Princess.

Majora's Mask, anyone? :-o

I liked Legend of Zelda, Link's Awakening, Oracle of whatever you got, Link to the past, Minish Cap, Ocarina of Time, Majoro's Mask, and Windwaker. I did not really like Twilight Princess all that much, to be honest I got into the fire Temple, and finished it, but wasnt really into it and got rid of it.

If they ever do make another game, I hope they have new themes for the dungeons instead of a forest temple, a fire temple and water temple like they did in the other fifteen or so games in the series.

The music in the zelda games is epic, I love how they always incorporate the original theme into each game. If you have played zelda games before, it's easy to get sucked into another one simply because of the familiarity of that song. You almost feel as if you've already played it. As for the Zelda franchise as a whole, I love it.

PG ... I ... I didn't know you cared... <3

Oh, how I do love sharing the same opinion.

I tend to not pay much attention when people say Ocarina of Time is the best Zelda game in the series. Yeah, it launched the franchise into 3D, but, um ... yeah, that's about it. It's a good game, but Wind Waker is easily the best of the "new" Zelda titles. Twilight Princess (AKA Ocarina of Time 2.5) can rot in a 12-foot-hole deep in a forest somewhere with a giant rock covering it.
