This is the best news I've heard all month, a new House of the Dead game on the Wii, I've always been a lightgun shooter fan and now a new title in that genre.

Cool.
I wonder if House of The Dead EX or House of The Dead 4 would get a Wii release.

i saw the trailer earlier today and it's pretty epic, best trailer if seen..maybe ever
if they put some of that Grindhouse feeling into the new House of the Dead it would certainly bring something new and unique to the series.
anyway,i'll keep an eye on this game

looks cool, if they keep the same ambience as they did in the trailer (e.g. old fashioned and campy) then it's the zombie game I've been waiting for.

I'm glad to see someone beat me to a thread on this - this is awesome news and its one of the best pieces of news lately. As said before the trailer is one of the best I've ever seen if not THE best. I love the old b movie style and it reminds me so much of Grindhouse and that is no bad thing!

I'll definately keep a close eye on this one!

While I'm here though can someone please tell me what the hell happened to the House Of The Dead 4 console version or if it will ever come out?

I'd say HotD 4 will have to be a PS3 title, since the graphics are probably too much for the Wii and PS3 has the GunCon.

I just hope it comes out on one of the consoles at least - mainly because the arcade place where I played it shut down. I remember completing it with a friend at the bowling place and one of our "friends" at the time skipped the ending......BASTARD! :omg:

Hardly. Consider that HotD4 seems to be using very similar techniques to Doom 3 (Except there seems to be little to NO dynamic light), which ran on the Xbox. Something like Doom 3, HL2, etc, could be ran on the Wii with very close to "maximum" quality.

The only reason you don't see stuff like it on the Wii already (except for SMG, which did a lot of the same effects with lighting and specular reflections) is because these shader effects can't be done in the exact same manner. But that doesn't mean they can't be done.

There's really nothing in that game stopping it from running on the Wii, I don't think.

I haven't seen a ton of HotD 4 footage, from what I saw it has pretty decent graphics, I was just saying in it's current form it would be a stretch for the Wii. And the 360 doesn't really have a gun peripheral.

.... Because .... ? Because it looks nice? Alright, this isn't really directed at you or anything, but this mentality is really starting to piss me off. I hate the laziness of developers and the unrealistic time constraints they're put in. There is no excuse for the graphical quality levels seen on ALL of the consoles. (Yes, all of them have issues they shouldn't). The very "I don't give a shit" implementations on the Wii, as well as the horrible shadow map algorithms used on the 360 and PS3, all piss me off.

I know it's a balancing act between all the graphical features used ... but ... come on. Get your goddamned hands dirty, run through the fucking algorithms and make them more efficient FOR the hardware instead of just using the "known" technique.

GODDAMMIT, that pisses me off.

But the only thing that pisses me off more, is when people think that all that is an accurate representation of the hardware's abilities. It isn't.

Sorry for the small eruption, but you should, maybe, check out what is actually doable on older and less capable hardware than what's in the Wii, even. You'd be surprised, I'm sure.

I didn't say it can't be done, I'm just saying the only thing the devs will be worried about is making you wiggle the controller ad invest no time into making the game look good. The Wii is capable of alot of stuff, but the Wii-mote gimmick is forever going to shadow any quality the Wii could produce. They have the vc controller, why not just make a straight up regular game with no jumping around and wiggling controllers and retarded balance boards?

Exactly, it might be possible, if it is possible it will be quite a stretch for the Wii's capabilities.

Dude, all you were talking about were graphics ... then when you responded all you were talking about was how useless you think the control scheme would be (a HotD control scheme has already been nearly perfected on the Wii). WHICH ARE TWO UNRELATED POINTS. You tried to use the second one to explain the first then said, "Exactly".

You still never explained why you think it would be a stretch for the console ... I explained why I'm pretty much 100% positive it isn't ... but you're just talking in circles.

If you don't want to: that's fine, I was looking for a real discussion, not an argument or anything, if you're not down with that, cool ... but don't try to lay some bullshit on me.

has anyone even played HOTD4? i have it was a great game and in the arcade. the controls can be remade perfectly using the Wii control scheme. if you played it in arcade you'd know it too.
i like how graphics is an issue and then a claim where i read.

^do you even goto arcades anymore? did you even look it up on wikipedia? the game says it comes in two flavors for arcade. a nice wide screen display and a regular ass stand from what i can tell. and i HAVE played it on that nice widescreen display in the arcade it was incredible. if the Wii can pumpout nice looking games it can.

besides what the hell does this all have to do with overkill?
from what i've seen overkill is going to kickass.

Funny fact. In House of the Dead 4 for the Arcade, they actually make you wiggle around the guns to reload and break free of enemies and what not, this was long before the Wii started wiggling wiimotes. So... chances are they don't need to change a damn thing about HotD4 for the Wii, and you've essentially just trashed the Arcade game that you're hoping will come to the PS3 (which will require you to wiggle your guncon, dur!)

Seriously StabMasterArson in the past 24 hours you've posted the EXACT same complaint in four or five posts which is the EXACT same complaint you had from a month ago when you were pissed about the E3 conference. You even made your own topic in The Soapbox to further bring attention to how much you hate the Wii.

This is your FINAL WARNING, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. You're allowed to dislike the Wii all you want, but when you post it in EVERY TOPIC it becomes a bit redundant and instead is considered trolling and harassment. We get the point, trust me. Everyone on this ENTIRE forum probably knows you hate the wiggle gimmick by now and are extremely bitter about the E3 press conference. We know about your 400 dollar paper weight, how your family plays dumb wiggle wiimote games, and how you're sick of Pool games that are the same level over and over again, etc. So zip it!

You're more than welcome to argue your point as long as you base things in fact and stop repeating yourself like a broken record and claiming any new game on the Wii is going to suck balls. If necessary I will go so far as to simply revoke your ability to even use the Nintendo sub-forum. So... WISE UP ALREADY!
