I'd go with an LCD TV. They last longer than Plasmas.

DLP is superior to LCD...It's just too bad there arent any new models out that are around 42" and 720p...
And ya, LCDs are better for gaming, but Plasmas are better for Movies...And again, the high-end Plasmas still have better and more realistic colors, better blacks and faster response times than any LCD...But at least with LCDs you dont have to worry about a Games HUD burning into the screen >_<

Anyways, Whenever a 46" 1080p LaserVue HDTV comes out, I'm so buying :omg:
For now the 65" models will be coming out in around a month and PQ wise they destroy everything else on the market Color-wise. Check it out

hmm...I'm kind of regretting the purchase I made on getting an LCD.....Because i'm so used to my CRT having perfect color, blacks and response time. LCDs are still inferior in all 3 areas. But Plasmas arent, they're alot closer to CRT.

I'm actually thinking about taking it back and getting the Samsung PN42A450 720p Plasma...The downside is that the resolution for it is 1024x768...instead of my LCDs 1366x766...And the whole image retention and burn in thing....But somebody was saying that plasmas are worse for gaming, yet i've heard the complete opposite from some people...one thing is for sure, plasmas have better color, blacks and a response time.

Simple solution: Stick with a CRT until the shit is fixed.

Put it this way, LaserVue is pretty much the fix and they're coming out in a month. Problem is, is that Mitsubishi only plans on releasing a 65" display...and then a 73" a couple months later....I want a HDTV in the 40-42" Range and that's 720p, but they're all going to be 1080p.

Still, LaserVue trumps both Plasma and LCD, but when they decide to release smaller sized models, whoknows.

Oh and another thing, everybody is always complaining that Nintendo didn't go HD with the Wii...funny thing is HDTVS are still gimped, but in 2-3 years when the Wii2 comes out(and will of course be HD) HDTVS will be perfect and I'm assuming OLEDs will be the big thing.

But ya, I should just stop my bitching and keep the LCD(which does kick ass) that I got 'and' my CRT(obviously)....And just upgrade my HDTV when the time comes. Oh and also, Plasmas just seem so high maintenance, you have to spend time breaking them in, you can't spend too much time playing games on them in case of burn in(stationary huds that is) and if that happens, you have to watch movies to get rid of the burn in, and there's also image retention....

All in all, Plasma and LCD both suck.........Now bring on zee' LASERS! :omg:

Damn, i was at BestBuy a while ago and Checked out the Samsung 42" PN42A450 720p Plasma and it cleary has better Picture Quality when it came to Color, Blacks and of course response time than the LCD I have....But how would it fair with the 360,Wii and PS3?...Since it's resolution is 1024x768p, which is a bit lower than your typical 720p LCD....

Plasma> PN42A450

+ Superior and more life-like Color
+ Superior Blacks
+ Superior Response time that is pretty much on par with a CRT(which is Oms)..compared to the LCD I have that is 6ms.

LCD> LN40A450

+ Higher Resolution (LCD res is 1366x768....While normal 720p is 1280x720p, but the plasma is lower with 1024x768p...)
+ No Chance of Burn in
+ No Image Retention

So as it stands, I think i'm willing to sacrafice some HD detail loss for superior color, blacks and Response time....Image retention worries me though, and of course Burn in.....I need more opinions. But ya, One thing is for sure, the Plasma will definitly be better for movies, but that's a big DUH.

Whoopsy. My bad.

Anyhoo, I've finally made the decision to return my LCD and go for the PN42A450 720p Plasma, The color, blacks and response time beat out the LCD, the only downside is the slight loss in detail due to the slightly lower res, but I can live with that.

Also, i was thinking about getting a Panasonic 1080p 42" Plasma, since the PS3 and 360 'support' 1080p...but the thing is, the Games 'dont', they're 720p native(well there are a couple of games out that are 1080p, whoopie), so what happens is the games get upscaled to 1080p...And i'm pretty sure the Wii(being at 480p) games being upscaled to 1080p would look pretty nasty.
