So seeing as music is currently severely outnumbered by the visual arts here I thought this would be a great thread for those
of us who are musically inclined to show of our work and ask for opinions and constructive criticism.

I encourage you all to comment on each others works; we're all fumbling in the dark more or less and it's always nice to get some opinions on your work. However please keep the comments constructive; no one gains anything from a "U Sux LOLz" and it just makes you look like a jackass.

I'll start with some W.I.P. from my second album.

WOOT! finally a place to post that I feel caters to my artistic expression!! xD

I want to introduce myself, for those of you who don't know me yet. My name is Adam, but I go by the remixer name DJ Powder (OSG). (btw, i tried to put (OSG) in my screen name but it wouldn't let me, and (OSG) stands for "Old School Gamer") I am 22 years old and I love video game music! For the past year or so I have been remixing video game music as a hobby. I have even submitted a few remixes to http://www.ocremix.org (not an easy place to get accepted) and I actually have a remix pending approval there!!! I try to keep up with my remixing as much as possible, however I do work full time and I do have a 4 year old son (who btw is a fan of this site too!!) I plan to post future remixes here for those of you who are interested. In my 4 years or so on the interwebs I have found very few people who actually listen to video game music, which saddens me because video game music and video game music remixes are my life. It's more nostalgia than anything, but I can't quit listening to it. Well, I'm trying not to drag this out so I'm going to end this introduction. Thank you for reading this (kudos to you if you are still reading) and I hope you enjoy the auditory awesomeness I intend to bring to you in the near future!!!

*EDIT* I also wanted to point out for those of you who are SA.com vets that I was featured on the 2/6/08 episode of SideScrollers about half way through the podcast. I remixed the outro music (which I really don't understand why they featured it in the middle of the podcast considering it was the outro music, but I can't complain) :-D

DJ Powder (OSG)

for your enjoyment:

DJ Powder (OSG)- Zelda 3- Get Lost in the Mix Remix (awaiting ocremix.org approval)
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/154627

DJ Powder (OSG)- Mario Kart 64- Taste the Rainbow Remix
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/150822

I would appreciate any comments whatsoever concerning the remixes I have posted.

There are all these various remixes, but what about actual bonafide self-compositions? For instance, I've written music for a Fire Emblem ripoff of a game that I'm hosting on a different forum. Here are a couple of my pieces. Oh, and March of the Holy Knights is an arrangement of the first song I ever wrote back in 7th grade. The songs are all in MIDI format.

I just tried to download the zip file, but I'm having trouble atm. I have to go to a fireworks show with my son, but I'll try to download it again and I'll give 'em a listen when I get back home tonight and give you some feedback.

And btw I have been working on a few original works, I'll post 'em as soon a I feel they are finished. (might be a while lol)

I promised you some feedback and I just wanted to say that I enjoyed all 4 compositions MUCHO! You did a fantastic job. I was wondering if you would care if I tried to do a remix (or a reworking more or less) of Xylon's Theme? I found it to be a very moving piece of music.

Thanks dude, it's all original stuff... works in progress really; I'm trying to get away from my normal style and do something new and fresh. I've resorted to long drones of noise before and I want to experiment more with beats this time around. I'm glad that you liked it though!

PS. I'll check out most of the stuff here tomorrow as I've just gotten home from a friend's place after roleplaying (i.e. REALLY tired!). In other words: I'll send some comments on all of the stuff in this thread once I've slept for a while.

I would absolutely love to hear a remix of that song, considering that its my favorite song that I have ever composed. I just hope that you wouldn't mind me showing my friends on the other forum that I frequent. After all, they are the ones playing the game that I am writing this music for.

I fucked up trying to fix a quote and ended up posting the same thing again as a different post. I couldn't figure out if there was a way to delete it, so I just left it and decided to explain what happened here in the original post. srry about that won't happen again

Feel free to delete this post if you are capable moderators
