I see only one problem with the new game:
The Werewolf thingy...
like we havent seen that one before, Sega... (Nintendo: Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, Link transforming into a wolf...)
Come on, Sega...you know better than that...
Lol, I don't know about that. Sega
are responsible for a fair amount of rip offs. Very high quality ones though.
This new Sonic does look exciting, and I really, really hope it can make the grade this time.
Well for one, the Streets of Rage series was a total knock off of Capcom's Final Fight. As it happened though it was much better than the SNES Final Fight so it sold by the bucket load. By the time Capcom had corrected things with Final Fight 2, it felt more like a FF 1.5 whereas SoR2 was a full blown sequel, so Sega stayed one step ahead even if both games were very similar. Also their Fantasy Zone series is just defender with lots of cute stuff, which wasn't a bad thing either. Oh, and they had a fighter called Eternal Champions on the Genesis, which was kind of their version of Mortal Kombat.
Sega have done a lot of very original games, but they created a lot of games intended to rival popular series which were sometimes almost exactly the same but sometimes managed to improve the original formula.
By this logic, you can say that Final Fight was technically a ripoff of Double Dragon, just with better graphics, and the inclusion of power bars. Oh, and a little game called Golden Axe, was released the very same year as Final Fight in the arcade. Every game has a genre that was created by a game before it. If anything, Sega has been one forefront leader in innovative and different games, especially if you look at their arcade games in the 80's and 90's. However, I do agree, many of their games on the Genesis were specifically created to duel with games on other platforms often times with better results.
On a side note, the transformation into a wolf thing was created long before Link was a pixel on the screen. It has been used ad nauseam in movies, games (Altered Beast), etc. I've had enough of that shit.
