I beat Super Mario Brothers on the NES tonight.

Yes, after 30.5 years, I have finally beaten it. I feel a little ashamed admitting that I have never beaten the game before, but it was always a little too hard for me. But, after beating it on the Lost Levels, I gave it a go on the NES and I finally beat it.

Funny Story: My first run through, I get to 8-4 and I die. So, I give it one more go. I grab the Fire Flower on World 1-1 and I never loose it. I went through the game completely untouched! I warped, so I only played like 8 levels, but I didn't get hit once.

I can finally say that this classic game has finally been completed.

Good for you, man. Don't beat yourself up too much, though, I haven't beaten that game either. Be proud of what you have acheived.

Steam sales alone give PC gaming 100000 points. You could have bought Just Cause 2 for like $3.

Picked up Arkham City GOTY, GTA IV complete, the Walking Dead, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet (fucking awesome game btw), Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and the Alan Wake collection and I don't even think I spent $40. Pretty much I'm going to be PC gaming for awhile.

Nothing against PC gaming, but I think I'm gonna stick to consoles.

Also I finally got around to getting a PS3 headset for voice chat, if anyone has a PS3 and some online games that they play from time to time.

Nothing wrong with console gaming either as I use mine more than anything, but after playing Arkham City on my PC, graphics are so much freakin better than the Xbox version it's just hard to go back, especially because I just hook up my wired 360 controller to my computer and it's like playing it on Xbox... on steroids. I can't wait for the Just Cause 2 mod as me and my buddy will be all over that. The game was just made to have co-op in it and was so very sad to hear the devs had no plan on patching it in. Thank you very much computer nerds!

Also, once my bandwidth cap resets this coming weekend (did I mention I hate internet providers here in Canada?) I'm downloading my bought copy of GTA IV, installing the awesome HD texture mod playing through that beauty until Borderlands 2 comes out.

Also, the Walking Dead game is freakin amazing. First two episodes are great and the third is dropping sometime this month. $15 for the season pass feels like a steal for me!

I completed Super Mario World this...morning. Meaning, I found all 96 Worlds/exits in the game.

I know Super Mario Brothers 3 is the more acclaimed game and I understand why it is. That game is so much more groundbreaking and noteworthy in comparison to so many other games. However, if I had to chose my favorite Mario game, it would be Super Mario World.

I had the most fun and enjoyment out of Super Mario World than any other true Mario game. It is the one I go to when I want to play a Mario game.

And now it is done! WooHoo!!

Mario World's awesome, don't get me wrong, but I still prefer Mario 3. World is much bigger and introduced a lot more awesome things/secrets but I dunno. Mario 3 just has this nostalgic power over me.

Beat Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet. Awesome game. Metroidvania games are just my thing, love them. Now working on Alan Wake's American Nightmare and really, really digging it so far. Once again, thank you steam summer sale for getting me that game plus Alan Wake, its DLC and soundtrack for $7.50!

For me, I like both Super Mario World and SMB 3 the same. Both have a ton of secret stuff to find, both of them were innovative games made for their consoles, and both are considered classic games. If I'm going off of nostalgia, SMB 3 would be picked over SMW any day. But, I still do like both games pretty much the same.

Technically speaking SMW is the better game, it's got more of and bigger, brighter, badder everything. But man, so many NES games hit at just the right time in my life...I didn't care about bits or SuperFX chips or any of that. I didn't care about the how of the game, only that I was able to fully immerse myself in it. SMB3 was that game for me (that and about 50 other NES games). Once I started seeing behind the curtain in the SNES era and beyond, some of that magic was lost.

The levels, enemies, and power ups are better in SMB3. SMW has it beat graphically, but I find myself enjoying SMB3 much more. Crazy stuff like the little big world was sorely lacking in SMW. Frog and Hammer Bro suits were replaced by Yoshi Yoshi and more Yoshi. The worlds might have been bigger in World but they feel more empty with few enemies to actually challenge you.

World is also way too easy. You have that extra storage slot for a power up and Yoshi so you can take 4 or 5 hits before dying, so really only pits and instant kill traps are threats anymore. It also felt like SMW was when Mario games starting giving out 1ups like candy. In older games you had to gather 100 coins or search hard to find hidden ones.

Finding 1-Ups wasn't so easy in World until you discovered the hidden items level.

And the Special World stages are still very hard. Harder than anything in Super Mario Bros. 3

Or stomp turtle shells on level 3-1.

So very true. It was hard to find 1-ups in SMW 2 unless you rung the bell at the each stage. If you were off by just a little bit, you didn't get the hidden stage, and sometimes those jumps were difficult.

That is what took me so long to complete the game. Those extra worlds with the 90's terms are a pain in the ass. I got stuck on one until I sat down for like 30 minutes straight until I finally finished it off. After that, I just had to find the others to finish off the game.

Tonight, I beat Ducktales on the NES!

I was amazed to find out that game has 3 endings. You get one for having your total under 10 million and another one over 10 million. However, there is a super secret ending in the game if you beat the game without collecting a single dollar! You have to beat all of the levels and not collect a single gem. I am amazed that even exists and cannot imagine how difficult it must be!

The game itself is amazing and a perfect example of Capcom at its greatest! One of the best licensed games of all time!

Didn't know about that hidden ending that is hilarious.

Duck Tales 2 is also a must play.

If you can find/afford it. Pretty rare and expensive game.

Beat American Nightmare. Fun game that makes me want to play Alan Wake again. Going to jump into arcade mode soon. Also beat Harley Quinn's Revenge. Very meh. Doesn't really add anything to the overall story of the Arkham games besides being able to play as Robin, which is fun I guess... I would say pass on it unless you get the GOTY edition of Arkham City.
