Well, here's something I never thought of. Pretty much every game that isn't Max Payne that's on sale's sold out at the EB by my work. Going to try another location tomorrow night to see if they have a copy of Dark Souls or the Ico collection.

I found a copy of Max Payne for PC at a thrift store yesterday. Totally worth $5. It's the DVD case version ... and oddly there's no rating on it ... I think this is the one that came in that larger box when it first launched. (I didn't notice any unusual U's or anything in the spelling of various words :P)

I beat New Super Mario Bros on the DS. While I enjoyed New Super Mario Bros Wii, this entry was very short, very easy, and very run of the mill.

So I borrowed The Witcher 2 on 360, it was ok, not amazing but I actually quite liked a lot of the characters. So the Steam sale comes around, I pick up The Witcher - Enhanced Edition because of the previous game....."Minimum system requirements not met.".....FUCK SAKE!!! :verymad:

A buddy gifted me Alan Wake franchise pack on Steam for my birthday. Very nice. (it's actually on Monday, though, it's just on sale now)

Beat MGS3. Very solid game (pun intended). Still think the original MGS is my favorite but this one comes in at number 2.

Picked up Dark Souls (sorry gasline, they didn't have it on PS3 so I got it on 360) and the Ico Collection thanks to the EB sale. Been able to hold off on the Steam sale so far... but I know I'll eventually cave once something I really want goes on sale.

Batman Arkham City. I rented and beat it last year but the game of the year edition was calling me. I didn't get a chance to do the Catwoman stuff or Harlequin's Revenge and it came with a copy of Gothem City Imposters.

Thanks to the Steam Sale I got the Hitman Collection for a fiver! It was a great deal, even though Contracts isn't in there. Also picked up Bastion in the flash sale because I can't ever get enough of Bastion. :yum:
Oh yeah, got Payday: The Heist too.

I'm trying REALLY hard not to spend too much on the Steam sale but... so hard to resist... Very tempted to get Saints Row 3 for $13 and New Vegas for $5...

I beat Dragon Warrior for the NES tonight.

I am so torn about this game. A part of me really enjoys the old school aspect of the game and understands that it is one of the first JRPG's to come out in America. It is really sweet and really fun to watch your character grow. But, another part of me, really is annoyed by the old school aspect of the constant menu system, consistent grind, no explanation and steep learning curve.

I love it for what it did and the game deserves my respect. Also, the sprite of the knight carrying the princess is one of the sweetest sprites in all of gaming.

Just beat this game for the first time myself just year or two ago. I don't think it had a steep learning curve at all - everything you needed to know was learned in the first few battles.

I do think it had a steep difficulty curve. From the marsh cave forward that game smacks you around and makes you its bitch. Green dragon? I have nightmares about it. Abandoned town? Avoid it.

It also had some obtuse hints, finding certain items was a pain. Also some of the stuff you spend mad coin on isn't worth it.

I hate that game, but I don't know how to quit it.

For the learning curve, I was talking more about the fact that the game doesn't explain anything. The NPC's around you barely describe where you should go next and what you should do. Also, even when you gain new spells, you have to try it a few times just to see what they even do. You have to almost learn the entire game by yourself.

I was explaining to my friend about the game who grew up with it and understands the entire process better than anybody else. The first 75 - 80% of the game is paced really well. There is hardly any stopping points besides to grab some gold or maybe a level, but those aren't for long stretches of time. The end part of the game where you need to grind gold for some items, go to the last dungeon and grab the end game items, grind gold for the last few items and then to level up to 20 was a pain. Those couple of punches right in a row really deflated me and made it such a chore to finish the game. That is really the only big problem I had with the grinding parts.

Besides the fact that it is really an old school RPG, it's still hard for me to hate it. The game is so historical and there are beautiful parts to it. And I can completely see your love/hate for it.

I'm just glad I finally beat it! :phew:

Dragon Warrior... that brings me back 20 years. Still have the game, but I highly doubt I'd have the patience to play it now.

Playing Goldeneye Reloaded on PS3 and I'm really surprised how much I'm enjoying the game. No, it's not as good as the N64 game but it's still a lot of fun. Going to try out some MI6 Ops soon I think.

As usual, I'm in the middle of a bunch of different games because it seems like I can't just pick one game and completely finish it without starting a new game. Anyone else have that problem? Well anyways right now I am going to try and focus on getting all of the trophies for Just Cause 2, which is a HUGE undertaking. Hopefully after that I won't have to touch that game for at least a year. I am also playing through Red Dead Redemption. I just started it and so far I am having a blast. The characters and locations in the game seem very authentic and shooting bandits while riding a horse is so much fun.

I love Just Cause 2 and RDR. I have the first on PC and it's my go-to stress/anger reliever, not to mention it's a gorgeous looking game. If it had co-op it would be the best sandbox game ever (they're actually modding co-op/mulitplayer into the PC version and I can't freakin wait). RDR has to be one of the best stories in gaming. Been feeling the need to play through it again lately and be an outlaw instead of law-abiding cowboy like my first playthrough.

I bought Quantum Conundrum and 3D Dot Game Heroes. 3D Dot Game Heroes is next on my list after Red Dead Redemption and Im working my way through Quantum Conundrum. Its a lot of fun. Its very reminiscent of portal but still stands as its own because of the games mechanics.

Just Cause 2 is a game that will never get old. It is my favorite sandbox game and for a good reason, its effin massive and basically a giant playground where you the player, can just mess around and try making different stunts and cool scenarios right our of an action movie (car chases, jumping off of mountains, assaulting miliatary bases with a helicopter).
