Yeah remember when Nintendo let a greasy western developer run Metroid into the ground with that awful Prime series? Those brain dead meat heads of course turned it into an FPS abomination trying to be the next Halo of Duty. Thank Mother Brain that Nintendo finally brought the game back home to Japan and redeemed the series with Other M (The M stands for masterpiece).

It really is a shame to see one of my favorite childhood companis growing up slowly falling. Since the release of the first Marvel vs. Capcom 3, they started to slowly go downhill.

It seems like Inafune was the only one left keeping them in check. Now that he's gone, they are acting like a bunch of assholes.

Really? I thought they really started going downhill around RE5 and SFIV.

RE5 was the point where capcom went to pure shit , however RE4 was definitely the beginning of the end as far as I am concerned, because 4 is what started them down the road to the festering pile of shit that is 5.

I can see where you're coming from, but at least RE4 was.. you know, good.

I liked SFIV it's in a way, balanced they got it right the 3rd time though. Being a SF nerd.

The Cross-Overs killed Capcom IMO, they're trying to do too much now. The last good Capcom Crossover title was Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and I don't even know who the fuck are half of the rosters in that game.

How they killed off MegaMan, and turned The RE series into Left4Dead/CoD, and overhauled DMC Capcom is getting ridiculous.

You know though the only series that Capcom hasn't managed to fuck up is Monster Hunter, the formula is perfect for those kind of games.

RE4 was a fan-fuckin-tastic game, and one of the most fun to play games when it comes to gameplay style of its console generation....

BUT! it is NOT a resident evil game , if you swapped out leon for some random dude named something else who looked different and took out the references to umbrella would anyone even guess it was resident evil when they played it? I would guess not.

so thats where I am coming from with that statement, while RE4 was a great game, it started the franchise down a path to entirely becoming something very different, very bland, and very not resident evil, as much as I love resident evil 4 ( and I do love RE4) I almost wish they had made another game in the vein of REmake and RE zero - even if it failed hard and the franchise had died there, it would be better than where it is now, and where it is headed to in the future, also, then we wouldnt have this...

Capcom in some ways did great and shot themselves in the foot this gen.

What they did outstanding in was bringing back classics and reviving franchises. Super Street Fighter II: Turbo HD Remix, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Mega Man 9, etc were all phenomenal games and Mega Man 9 alone made me interested in the series again after a lot of ho hum games (it's my 2nd favorite Mega Man game behind 2). Along with that, they brought a ton of ports with games like MvC 2 and Third Strike. All of that was fantastic. I also may have bias, but I feel that Street Fighter IV kinda played a huge role in reviving the fighting game scene to what it is today and MvC 3 was an amazing game (in my opinion, of course) that stayed true to it's roots.

However, I feel that their egos got in the way after their surge of success. Sure, the whole costume DLC in Street Fighter IV sucked, but it didn't really add anything to the game, so it was fine. But when they started overcharging for DLC or rereleasing games that make the previous game invalid, it got way worse. Now they're at the point of literally locking out modes and going as far as locking 1/5th of the roster of characters to nickel and dime for the sake of nickel and diming.

I enjoy playing their games, but I hate their marketing strategy.

Also, RE 5 was very disappointing. :shy:

Capcom was so weird for sure... they started out AWESOME. Umbrella Chronicles, Megaman 9, all this other neat stuff, and then RE5 happened, and then Street Fighter IV DLC and then the MvC3 ULTRA UBER EDITION FUCK YA'LL WE WANT YOUR MONEY shit... it's just a damn shame.

No wonder Keiji Inafune bailed.

That was the first major sign to stay away from Capcom. God it's so sad to see them go so downhill in just a few short years. Mega Man 9 (to a lesser extent 10) and Bionic Commando: Rearmed are great games. Well, what can you do I guess... Not buy their games I suppose.

I really hope Dragons Dogma doesn't suck. The demo was really short but fun. Still, this is Capcom we're talking about.

See the game looks interesting, but there are so many other huge Western RPGs out right now (two of which I'm in the middle of playing at the moment) that I can easily pass on it.

It'll be a game I play to get through the summer dredges.

Fuck you Capcom, you gave me my lovely lady Chunglee but you fuck with my wallet. I hope the toilets in your office stop flushing.
