To stand out and be different. I'm all about Micro-Transactions when a game is Free to Play, ME3 isn't, so... yeah. I still understand it though, if you're impatient you can spend real money, or else you can put hours into the Multiplayer mode and earn Credits and spend those instead.

To put it into perspective, if you survive a Multiplayer Bronze Challenge level, you get maybe... 10000 - 15000 credits, maybe a tad more. If you get partially through a Challenge, you'll earn anywhere from like 2000 - 7000, depending on how partial you've made it, and how fast/well you do the objective based missions.

Packs cost:

5000 Credits for gear, with a small chance for an uncommon item.

20000 Credits OR 80 MSP for gear with 1 guaranteed Uncommon Item or better, could be more than 1, but you're guaranteed 1.

60000 Credits OR 160 MSP for gear with 1 guaranteed Rare Item or better, same as above, could be more than 1, but you're guaranteed at least 1 rare item for all your money.

This stuff can range from new characters/customization options, single use items (like a buff to your ammo for a mission, rocket launchers, medi-gel, shield boosts, ammo packs, etc.), mods for your weapons, or actual weapons.

It's an entire crap-shoot though, so you risk wasting 2 dollars and being pissed about it.

Oh, also, related to Collector's Edition, the alternate costumes seem to come with From Ashes, or maybe there's Collector's Edition costumes AND From Ashes Costumes. Either way, another reason you can probably skip worrying about Collector's Edition and just buy the DLC.

How is the From Ashes DLC? Is it worth me spending $10 or should I skip it?

I understand micro-transactions for free to play games. That's how the devs make their money but when you drop $60 on a game I find spending more real money on virtual guns and crap such a waste. It's the same argument I have with spending money on costumes in fighting games. It really adds nothing to the gameplay, it's just your character looks different. Maybe it's just because I'm so cheap, or maybe it's because I remember the days where you had work on games to unlock this crap, not pay money but am I ever getting sick of the way the gaming industry's heading. Like I said in a few other places, I wasn't really planning on playing much multiplayer (mostly because I hate playing with people I don't know. From experience random people in hoard-like modes are either a) dicks or b) don't know how to work as a team)

EDIT: Was able to find a copy of the Collector's Edition at the EB near where I work (the one I should have pre ordered from). Everything is now right in the universe.

PROTIP: Don't use the "store" when you're in Ready mode in ME3, because if you are, you'll lose all your multiplayer shit like I just did. Welp, there goes me enjoying the multiplayer mode for a bunch of weeks until they fix this and then nobody is playing. NEATO!

That being said, I've had 4 successfully finished multiplayer games out of like 10. Maybe 2 or 3 where we've just fallen flat on our faces in the first wave or two. The others we lost usually right near the end due to being overwhelmed and not properly equipped to deal with all the "boss" monsters.

Is it a spoiler to say that the last part of the game makes me want to get a refund?

Awww really?

I'm not there yet but so far it improved on a lot of things, most of them having to do with the RPG aspect of the game. I still would have liked levels to be more open and not direct like they were in Mass Effect 2, also they kept the most fun part about Mass Effect, fucking planet scanning! Oh boy!.....

So far I'm really liking it though.

I looked at that, and that's pretty disappointing. Seriously, they're just humans in suits? Whaaaa?

I was at least hoping they'd look like sexy versions of turians. They have a similar skeleton structure and are both dextro-amino acid based DNA species so... Why not make them more similar than making them humans with funny legs and hands?

man fuck this game, i am pretty pissed atm...

I am getting terribly near the end of the game and no matter what I do my galactic readiness rating will not go above 50% no matter what I do, I thought I was doing pretty damn good and amassing a hell of an army, I go to check and my military strength is pretty good, but readiness wont go above 50.

so I hop on the internet do a quick search and what do i find.... you HAVE to play multi player to raise the galactic readiness rating..... wait..... what? fucking seriously? I thought bioware said that MP was completely optional and everything would be available to you through single player game play - bullshit!

1. I do not like multiplayer games generally speaking. 2. I do not have xbox live gold because of number 1.

so no matter what I am fucked, I can not get my galactic readiness rating up past 50... I god damn knew when they announced MP somehow it would screw with something somewhere along the way.

If i dont get the best possible ending because I didnt play MP but did everything else just right I am going to be soooooo incredibly pissed off.

:zombie:

I'm sure you don't have to worry about the readiness, what matters is your effective military strength or whatever.

The percentage galactic readiness that you see on the start screen is just a multiplier, as long as you have a full green bar in the war assets room you're good.

25% in and my galactic readiness is at full green. I've made 2 characters as assets too...I love my friends.

I think the Galactic Readiness just means how effective your war efforts are, and how much you need to max the bar in order to get the best ending.

well my green bar was maxed as full as I could get it and did almost every sidequest available with the exception of one and I was not able to get either of the 2 "best" endings, so it would appear that you have to in fact play multi player in order to be able to get the truly best ending.

with that aside I am not entirely sure how I feel about the ending yet, I think i need to give it another play through.

Really? If that's true as I'm currently going through and doing everything in the single player and if you need to play multiplayer to get the best endings then that's a piss off. Like I said, I'm not a huge multiplayer guy either and would just want to 100% the single player.

You could always get the apps lol. But I felt that it was easier to up the muhfucka up when you played multi-player. 5 successful random leveled missions and my survival rate for everyone went up to 95%. purrty dope.

not to try and spoil too much, but ive watched the very best ending on youtube and really the only difference between the ending I got and the very best one is about a 5 second clip at the very end of the ending sequence.

the more I think about it the end of the game feels like it might be a misstep with some curious plot holes and more questions. 40 of the final 45 minutes is all the epic goodness you expect, then the final 5 minutes is a wtf moment that leaves you wondering what the hell just happened? , I can't wait for a few more people to finish this so we can discuss the ending, maybe I just don't get it.

gonna spoiler tag this next bit even though I wont include any real spoilers I dont want to give anyone any ideas of what might happen til more are ready to discuss the end.

Spoiler
I am thinking that one of the major theory's floating around out there might be right, that final 5 second clip I did not get in my ending raises so many questions, and definitely implies that all may not be as it seems.

Well I'm planning on trying out the multiplayer, but like I said previously I really don't like playing hoard-like modes with random people I don't know due to frustration. It just sucks that it sounds like if I want to get the very best ending possible, which is what I'm striving for in my first playthrough, I have to play multiplayer and from what I understood from all the pre release information that wasn't supposed to be the case at all.
