Hey guys, I’ve been reading this discussion and others like it and I felt like saying a few things about it. A while ago I was a big fan of the site, I’d been watching from the very first update video Tom posted on YouTube, and I had stuck with it ever since. Back then I would never miss a podcast or a review, I was on the forums for a while but lost interest.

Somewhere down the line I lost interest in the website all together, there was something about the presentation or the lack of energy and enthusiasm in the videos. At first I thought it might be the amount of videos that was hurting the quality but once the podcast became monthly instead of weekly I thought it’d improve a little but it seemed to lose even more momentum. Last year I stopped visiting the site all together but recently I’ve been watching Tom’s weekly news which is the only thing on the site I watch now.

I really would love to see this site have a huge following, I believe there are a few very easy ways to accomplish this.

1. Combine the video presentation of the GH podcast with the gaming topics/discussions of the Prototype podcast into one great video gaming show, with reviews, fan interaction etc. make it available in audio form and on YouTube try and get a new audience. Kill two birds with one stone. With the amount of different personalities on the site it’d be really great to see something like a roundtable discussion. You guys have always been good at having funny conversation just look at the old podcasts they’re hilarious.

2. Tom should have a standalone video series, there are a lot of people on YouTube who have gotten a lot of success just by sitting in front of their collections and talking about video games, the ones they love the ones they hate, what they bought, what they’re playing etc. I bet with Tom’s knowledge and established fan base it would be a huge hit on YouTube. I guarantee post just one video of Tom discussing a game like the Happy Console Gamer, Pete Dorr or other game vloggers like that and it will get a huge reaction.

3. I don’t want to be a jerk to Mike but I do think if there was a solid group of people on the site people would find it easier to follow. I loved the old bio videos and the names in the old introduction. It’s so much easier to be fan of something when you know who they all are. Maybe Mike could be like a contributor or something, also reaching out to other contributors might help too.

Still consider myself a fan after all this time and I’ll keep watching your content regardless. I hope you guys keep growing and getting better. Bye, love you guys.

Bring back Gay Game of the Month.

This was an old segment back on SideScrollers during Tom's run, and I loved it.

Another thing, what about bringing back Quote of the Week? If I remember correctly, Tom and Liz created that segment then when Tom left they continued to do it on SA, but they now use it as "Clip of the Week" and its more skits and stuff.

Just basically some of your favorite game, movie, anything quotes every week. That'd be cool.

Oh man, Gay Game of the Month! We stopped this one because a few people were offended that we were working with at the time.... Lazer the band and Gaygamer. We can possibly bring back quote of the month on the podcast? We tried not to take too many segments from SA, everyone would say we were ripping them off....lol even though we came up with them.

Yeah but it's been about what 4 years at this point? I think that the connection between TGH and ScrewAttack is over at this point. Plus you created the segment, and They call it "Clip of the Week" now, no longer "Quote of the Week."

as for Gay Game of the Month, I mean maybe a different title, but you could at least try it, see how it works.

Oh another idea, what about doing like a video game trivia show. "Know Your Game" or something.

I think most people would realistically agree that, yes, things have certainly declined here. I'm nobody to talk what someone should do though. I've got my own decline to manage(lolDTT). But here's the deal: if you have a job or school or anything related to that, then that comes first. The people who post on forums eight hours a day or something like that don't seem to understand this. I wonder why...

Mildly worded sleights aside, there can always be a rebound. I'm not certain what it would take for TGH to rebound, but it's definitely possible. It will have to start with creative, then onto management, and implementation. Maybe I could assist with such things, but that pesky "life" thing seems to step in the way.

TL;DR: OP needs to shut the computer off for a bit. Decline doesn't equal the end.

Well when your motto is Gaming Isn’t a Hobby, It’s a Way of Life you kind of set up certain expectations for your website.

I don't post much in the forums but I'll give my opinion.

1) I think for one you need to finalize a look for the website. Right now you have the site still in "Open Beta 3.0" and it's been in "beta" for a long time now. I like the look of the site but right now you look like you can't decide which way you want to go. Your main site has a style with it's own logo, but then the forums still have the blue/orange look with the older logo, plus some of the videos open with the older logo. That kind of stuff does look kinda bush league.

2) I agree about the cast talk, you need to somewhat reorganize who's on the site now and who isn't.

3) The best way I can describe how I'd like GH to be is to be like ScrewAttack used to be; I don't mean the exact same features and such, I just mean the way it felt like you were a part of something cool and independent. Things like more Classic Game Reviews would be great, and no I don't think that's a ripoff of Video Game Vault because I always associated VGV with Tom, and it's no more a ripoff than Prototype being a ripoff of Sidescrollers.

Man I haven't been here in a long time. Things are different yes but to say they suck is just spitting in the face of someone that provides you content. I still enjoy watching tom and everyone, I miss the days of Liz's participation and the diversity of opinions that used to be present in the videos but I will say that you are still putting out enjoyable content.

I also agree that the site has gone down hill a bit... But I admire the devotion that the left over members have to the site. I think with Tom, bird man, Joe and the Yamagato guys persistence, the site may eventually lift up again.. Plus anything can happen.
