PJ, single player combat is like the exact same as ME2, except there's a slightly different UI for loading different ammos into your gun with abilities. Also, you can fully remap all 3 buttons LB, RB, and Y for abilities.

As for actual combat, everything seemed the same beyond being able to hold down the melee button to use your plasma dagger sword thing.

Uh, no. There's a lot done to make the combat faster and control a little bit more like an Uncharted game. You can do cover transitions, move around corners while staying in cover, you can leap over gaps and walls without taking cover first, there's ladders and more verticality in the level design, no fatigue from running, dodge rolls in 8 directions, Shepard reloads and takes cover much faster. Not mention that the weapon system has changed to allow every class to use whatever weapons they want in whatever amount they want with the weight of weapons effecting power cooldown times.

Well, that's at least something

Oh? There's that stuff? I didn't notice any of it and I was playing on Hardcore mode, except maybe rolling. I also just assumed Ladders were always there, never realized they weren't.

Combat in Mass Effect 2 is boring as all hell. Fun at first, but becomes rapidly more and more repetitive. Also, extremely clunky.

Well, considering Mass Effect 1 is my favorite, and that has even clunkier combat... yeah, no gonna complain about ME2's controls. Hell, I thought nothing was wrong with RE5, and now RE6 is gonna have moving and shooting. Eventually all 3rd person combat controls are gonna be the same...

I dunno if it's because I'm not "shooter savvy" or something but I didn't really think there was anything wrong with ME2's combat either. *shrug*

Also, is it weird that I'm not playing the demo for ME3 not so much to avoid spoilers but more because I don't want to play as default Shepard?
I've really grown to dislike even looking at cover art or anything like that because the guy shown isn't MY Shepard and it bothers me.

This is by far the best thing. So many classes I avoided because I didn't want to be stuck with just the pistol the entire game. This is a much better system that allows you to find your own balance between weapons and powers.

Decided to experiment on my last playthrough by picking a vanguard. Worst decision I ever made. The only class worth a damn is a Soldier.

Soldier is boring. Only reason to play as Soldier was because he could use all the weapons. Now that restriction is lifted so it is more about which class has the best powers and skills to fit your play style.

Good news. You can MAKE your own Shepard in the demo. The full character creation tool is there (so you can theoretically make it your Shepard.) Also, you can play as the new and improved FemShep.

I'm loving the multiplayer in the demo way more than I ever thought I would. I mean, I'm like one of those cynical jackasses that almost flipped out and killed a bunch of people just because of the rumors of MP so there's a pretty big contrast here.

Demo played....Good move in that it was really good and got me super excited. Bad move in that I can't play the rest of the game RIGHT NOW!

Meh, I have the collector's edition coming so I get all the awesomeness!

Link, as per your request I beat the demo. God I can't wait for this game to come out... hopefully by then work will settle down so I'll actually get a chance to play during normal-people hours instead of very early in the morning before leaving for work.
