You can try checking out this X-Men vs. Avengers thing if you want. If you mean individual stories... #160.1 of X-Men Legacy is kicking off with a new writer, Christos Gage, who is awesome, so... that's a big deal, especially if you like Rogue.

I mean, you can go back to Messiah Complex, but honestly that's a bit far back and a good bit of footwork in terms of events/stuff if you really want to catch up to speed. There's also the X-Men book by Victor Gischler, with the Vampires and other stuff that seems to, at least as of now, be a pretty "continuity-lite" series.

As for Spider-Man, jump in with "Big Time" or "Spider Island" and just go from there. If you're not opposed to reading a large chunk of stuff, start with Brand New Day and move forward.

Current X-Men stories can also be jumped on with Schism and it's aftermath. The team split up into 2 books renumbered Uncanny X-Men and Wolverine and the X-Men for the main cast.
