as a big MMO player I think just a skill-system that's card deck style is pretty dope, there's a ton of room to play with it and whatnot. I'm just curious of the freedom of picking the skills if you can swap things out or if it's a permanent basis.

I think WoW has a simple and diverse skill system, pick a path and climb up that path, want to be pure? a hybrid? no problem! Especially when certain gear grants you skill bonuses.

I think Ragnarok Online had a more complex skill system though, Since there are a ton of jobs and you had to have certain attributes to unlock skills and whatnot. You x amount of Agi + lvl 6 stealth to unlock assassinate.

Sounds a lot like Anarchy Online cept with 500 skills instead of 83

The problem with these things is there is no way to balance them all. You end with certain skills that are trash and others that are mandatory for certain builds. Leads to a lot of really overpowered and broken mixes.

I like the concept of the "limited slots/trading card game" kind of skills... sort of like how they do FPS games and other stuff. But, Fox is right, it's a BITCH to balance properly. WoW is now infinitely dumbed down when Mists comes out.

The old Star Wars Galaxies was pretty interesting. Started off with 6 classes, and ballooned to 37 once you started skilling up. And of course that elusive Jedi class

Then they redid the entire spec, and it was shit
