Anybody picking up this game? I was originally extremely pessimistic about it, but the first reviews have been extremely positive, with some of them saying that it's a blend of old school RE with the new school scheme.

I'm still a tad skeptical with it, but now my interest has been slightly raised. I gave up on the story after 5, but the gameplay might make up for it judging by the first reviews. Plus, they returned to the T-Virus, so it's nice seeing them finished with Las Plagas and Uroburos.

EDIT: I totally forgot about Operation Raccoon City, RE 4, and CV HD all being released in a close frame. I guess I'll make it a general topic, so people can talk about whatever upcoming games in the series or just talk about the other games.

I'm interested enough I guess to pick it up... as long as I can buy it used after seeing all the initial post-release impressions without any shitty shenanigans.

RE has been a letdown lately but if they are going back to the old formula I might give it a rent. I'm more interested in Operation Raccoon City personally.

Agreed. It's be awesome if they made a prerendered game, even though it won't fare as well. Actually, I'd do anything for a remake of 2 and 3 in the same style as the GameCube remake of the first one.

And could a mod move it from the Nintendo section to multiplatform? I originally intended it for Revelations talk, before realizing the number of games coming out on different platforms.

Been dissecting the RE6 trailer as I plan on writing an in-depth article for the website on it and... god damn it I don't know what to think. As much as I love RE5 for it's fun co-op campaign, and really it is fun to play with a friend, it was a horrible RE game. Capcom went all action, no scares and that pissed a lot of people off (myself included).

From what I see in this trailer and from what I'm reading it looks like RE6 will have something for everyone. Three campaigns, one starring Leon which to me looks more like the survival-horror we know and want, a campaign with Chris which looks to be more of an action-style like RE5 and a third which has a yet to be identified character (and a girl is also featured with this character... who I think may be a long-forgotten character from a previous RE game. Check my article on Monday to find out who I think it is).

Capcom also said there will be a fourth campaign which will unlock once you beat the other three. So it seems to me they're kind of going back to the old formula of scenario A and B, except each will be taking place somewhere else but will intertwine at some point.

Looks like this could be the game to satisfy all RE fans, from horror to action. If not, I''m just going back to Dead Space... that series is doing Resident Evil better than RE itself nowadays.

I was originally really annoyed, but I'm over it and want to see how it'll pan out. Not really excited, but I'll give it a chance.

And I originally thought the blonde girl was Ashley, but thinking about it, I really want her to be Sherry. It would be a nice surprise. I also wish Claire was in it. Ever since Code Veronica ended, both Jill and Claire got the short end of the stick for a lot of games. Come to think of it, with the exception of Chris, Wesker, and Leon, nobody else really got a lot of attention. It would be nice to see those faces again.

And Havokk, here's how you beat Nemesis in that form. First, combine 2 Powder As. That way you'll get a more powerful handgun ammunition that can take Nemesis down quicker. Then equip all of your grenade rounds. When Nemesis shoots, don't stop, just run around as far as you can. When he dashes at you, make sure you're at his left hand (right side). He can't hurt you with that hand. When you are close, shoot the upgraded pistol rounds at him and keep your distance. Then switch to grenades when he drops his rocket launcher. When he does his yell, he pauses. Take that time to switch to grenades and shoot him, then switch back to the pistol. If you want to restart on a save, MAKE SURE NOT TO JUMP OFF THE TRAIN. If you use the brakes, Carlos will help you fight Nemesis.

The rest of the fights get way easier after this. Have fun. :-)

resi.... 6..... evil ...... *eye twitches*

I dont know if it looks like pure greatness or pure shit, I know the make over of leon is awesome, a lot more true to the character than the chris makeover in 5, the idea of several playable campaigns could work very well too, RE 4 was a great game but didnt feel too much like RE, and RE5 was even more of a depature with the co op which was fun at times, the idea of taking all 3 ideas of old schools scares, straight up action, and co op into their own campaigns, giving multiple PoVs to the same over all story ,,,, very intriguing.

one thing I will say is I know i have sorely missed since RE2 the option of who you want to play as, to me that is one of the main things that defined the first 2 games and helped to cement RE as my all time favorite video game franchise.

too early too say really anything about this, will be watching it very closely, I would be a big fat liar if i said I wasnt going to buy this game, of course I will buy it and play it and probably enjoy it on some level.

I think it's too early to make an opinion on it, but I've already seem people lose their minds over the trailer. All I know is that it isn't anything we were told it was going to be: It's not the rumored reboot. It hasn't gone back to its horror roots. It isn't removing itself from what came before (remember when they said RE5 was the end of the story?). What I do see looks like more of the same from 4 and 5. And while RE4 is my #2 favorite game in my favorite series of games, 5 was my least favorite (of the numbered titles) and I've always felt that was because of the lack of Shoji Mikami; and he won't be involved with this one either.

I will say I do like some things I see in it. The in game action with crowds looks great. The "zombies" have an interesting look to them. But that's all of the positive I see. As much as I like Leon I think using underutilized characters from the series would have been a nice treat (where the hell is Barry?). I was never a Chris fan. I don't hate the character but he always came off bland compared to other leads. But those are things I can over look if the game is good. The only problem I have with it is that the stakes just seem too high to ever be plausible. In the world of RE we've seem a Midwestern city overrun by zombies and nuked. The country side of Spain taken over by parasite worshipping cultists (and wiped out). A small African nation destroyed by Wesker's Oroborus project. And now: zombie president of the United States and what looks like a global bioterrorism threat. This is where I wish it had been a reboot that scaled back the stakes and upped the storytelling; essentially recapturing what people loved about the earlier games. It has gotten to the point where the title of the series doesn't make sense anymore. When we reach global threats it's no longer "Residential". Call it a nit pick but the title just doesn't make sense anymore to me. What made me (and many others) a fan in the first place was that at its heart the games where about being trapped in a building with monsters and elaborate traps.

Now I know that last bit makes it look like I already think the game is going to suck, but I actually don't because it's only been one trailer so far. I know everyone enjoys speculating on if it'll be split scenarios or if Leon's story will be traditional but I did that with the last one and I was let down. This time I'm just going to play the wait and see game and not get my hopes up.

Too little gameplay to truly judge this game, but from what we've seen, it's a good action game that I'm looking forward to playing one day.

Meh. We'll see what happens. Also, if that's Sherry Birkin (probably Ashley, trolololol) then the game is a Day 1 purchase.

Hey, Link. Guess who got confirmed for RE 6? I'll give you a hint. First name is Sherry, last name is Birkin. No wait, that wasn't much of a hint.

It's about time. It seems that Jill, Claire, and Sherry all got the short end of the stick for the new REs. It's nice to see what happened to her.

Unless of course they screw it up. :-(

Is that the little kid you play as for all of 5 mins? Capcom have been reading too many fanfics.

Where is Barry?

Seriously, or are you just fucking with me? I'm glad they're making use of her, I always thought it was annoying how they dropped the Birkin subplot so quickly after RE2 and yet kept bringing him up all the time with cameos and mentions in various notes, etc.

Nope, she is pretty much confirmed for the game.

And it seems that a lot of characters just got booted out of the series. Sherry got forgotten after 2, Jill got thrown out the window after 3 (I'm convinced that she was just put in 5 for the sake of shutting up the fans, though making the bird lady Sherry would have made much more sense), Claire not being in a game since Code Veronica, and no Barry.

It seems that Capcom is obsessed with Chris and Leon, and they're good characters, but there are other great characters. And I seriously hope that Wesker comes back somehow. They may have ruined him in 5, but he's still one of my favorite characters in the series and it would really suck if he was gone from the series.

And I seriously hope that Chris isn't an emotional little flower in this game. :serious?:

Chris is just vanilla white dude, which is much the reason he ALWAYS comes back, Leon is just the fan favorite, he has a lot more depth to him because he was more relatable than Chris. It's not like he was a 21 year old ace military pilot, etc.

I'd love to see Barry come back in some capacity. It was a great surprise having him in Mercenaries in 5.

BTW, if anyone ever wants a game of RE5 hit me up. I wouldn't be great at survivors because I don't know weapon locations but I really enjoy playing Mercenaries! :-D
