I don't know what they're called, but I'm sure you guys know what I'm scratchin' at. I'm talking those little animations or title cards developers or publishers put before their games. It's either the jingle, or the animation, or just the awesomeness of it that makes us remember it. One I remember is a very early Bulletproof Software NES game called Pipe Dream. Check this shizz:

It's awesome! What the hell is it supposed to be anyway? Some sort of cybernetic lion head that kinda looks like Dr. Viper from Swat Kats.

Also, that 16 bit Konami logo and jingle... many goooooood memories:

I always loved the konami one as well. This is just classic:

I will also never forget the many hours of snes playing and hearing this countless times

And while not really a game like the others, I feel super fucking nostalgic about this noise

Sega's has to be the best, in all it's forms on the Mega Drive. But since that's already been posted, here are some of my other favs...
Seeing the Rare logo at the beginning of your N64 game pretty much ensured quality from the get-go, shame the same can't be said today... Also, gotta love how the N64 logo was always an animated character in Rare game openings.

Perfect intro, I love it when developers indent's and combined with the game's themes seamlessly

and of course...

I've always been partial to this Capcom splash jingle.

Oh also, the N64 had some good ones:

and the Gamecube's startup jingle might be my favorite of all:

I always loved the classic SNES Konami and Capcom ones. A more recent one would be Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare one:

Also forgot to mention SNK's Neo Geo intro:

And I always found the spinning Nintendo logo amusing as a kid in games like Mario Kart and Goldeneye 007:

The relaxing yet futuristic sound it makes when it swirls and the tones the letters make when the pop up. Its caliming yet modern at the same time.

That Windows 98 thing reminded me of something so stupid. The Windows XP shutdown sound was ruined for me because of a friend of mine with something so idiotic. He claimed that everytime he heard it all he could hear now is "Mother in law" in time with the music. It got ruined for me too cause I kept hearing the same damn thing.....good thing I have Windows 7 now and don't have to hear it anymore.

Funny how these sounds trigger memories of specific games...like Pavlov's Dog.

This one brought up Myst, Dungeon Keeper, and Doom II.

Windows 95's jingle was boss.

Also, what's up with drowning Servbots? That intro/title movie is creepy.
