BOOM!

http://www.segabits.com/?p=13118

I know, I know... it looks ugly as hell, couldn't try any harder to look like a budget title. Not even being developed by Team Shinobi or series creator Noriyoshi Ohba.

But I can't help be pumped as fuck, I mean this is my favourite video game series and the first time I've been truly excited for a game in almost a year. The graphics or art direction mean little to me... just as long as it controls half decent and keeps the hardcore difficulty curve which is a staple of the series. It feels good to have Shinobi back.

You should change your screenname to "Shinobi is Awesome" you gush about it way more than Sonic :p

I think I'll wait for judgment when I see the game in action in a non-introductory tone. I assume it's not going to come out until later this year or maybe even next year.

You know there have been a lot of Shinobi-esqe games lately like Muramasa and The Dishwasher that looked freaking amazing. This is a classic title with new hardware to play with why isn't my mind blown?

Seeing those classic Shinobi titles makes me consider picking up Revenge of Shinobi or Shinobi 3 from the 3DS store, so if that was your goal Sega mission clear.

This looks....kind of bad.

It just looks so uninspired. Hopefully it plays better than it looks.

Showing gameplay from the old games and then the new gameplay may not have been the best sale.

Apparently it's out at the end of September, so yeah it's going to be pretty weak. But hey, at least they kept the badass scarf.

September is a long way away. And if they are showing the game at E3, they will likely take feedback into consideration, it's happened before.

So anybody played this yet? The reviews claim it's pretty decent, but it's gone straight under the radar, even before release. Many peeps throwing it off as a budget title I guess... could it be a hidden gem on the 3DS?

I played it. Doesn't live up to Revenge of Shinobi or Shinobi 3 but the game itself isn't awful. The graphics and gameplay were just kind of meh. If you are hard up for a new 3DS game, it will get the job done but you might want to wait for this one to drop in price.

The true hidden gem on the 3DS is Shadow Wars which no one gave the time of day even though it was a well made Tactics style game.
