I am now playing through skyward sword, and I feel almost the exact opposite of lucrious,
I love the the flying, it sort of reminds me of the sailing in wind waker but done right, its less time consuming, less boring, and seems generally more involved, I love the 3 different over worlds that are basically dungeons in and of them selves full of puzzles and enemies, it really feels like they combined the sailing of wind waker with a traditional zelda over world albeit several smaller ones rather than one large one
the combat and the controls are superb, I wasnt too sure about the motion plus thing but it works great, every fight you have to put thought into it and figure out the enemies tactics and approach them all differently, it works very well and keeps you really engaged, I never had many problems with it not picking up what I wanted to do, there may have been 1 or 2 instances where I got hit a time or 2 when it didnt hit the way i told it to, but I didn't find it to be too much of a hassle.
the dungeons and puzzles in this game are top notch, I have not been this involved in Zelda puzzles in a long long time, especially the puzzles involving the beetle, bombs, or a combo of both, the bosses are all pretty awesome too, the characters seem a lot more fleshed out, link seems more alive too rather than just sitting there staring off into the distance whenever link talks to someone or explains something to someone he emotes and moves his hands, it feels like he is really talking to and interacting with these people., zelda's character is also done perfectly in this game, every time link and zelda almost meet back together only to get pulled apart I cant help but feel a little sad for the 2 of them.
I love the villain, I wasn't sure how I would feel about this guy, but he has a ton of personality and character and that makes for a very interesting villain.
and lastly, when they first showed the early videos and images of the game I was very underwhelmed with the graphical direction, however after playing the game for some time now, I absolutely love it, the graphics find the absolute perfect balance between the realism of twilight princess, the feel of ocarina of time, and the cartoon look of wind waker, this is IMO the best looking zelda game yet and a direction I really hope they keep in the future.
is skyward sword the best Legend of Zelda game? I don't know if I could call skyward sword the best zelda game, but I can definitively say that this is the most fun I have had playing a zelda game since Link to the past, and that skyward sword is my favorite Zelda game next to Link to the Past.
