Nice video. I enjoyed the Flame Thrower in the first game, but it definitely wasn't a first choice. I did like some of the deaths there with it on the big guys, but... even then I'm not sure.

Also, it's pronounced ZELL-OTT, not ZEAL. Blew my mind when I found that out a year or so ago.

Look at the minimal upgrades though! That Brute went down without a fight, the dancing space girls only take one shot, and not to mention it has PLENTY of ammo. So you could just spam canisters while fighting most of the big guys and you'll win!

Which is only helpful if you know the big guys are coming. It may be a contender for the 4th slot in my inventory though. We'll see.

You make it sound as if this was the Detonator and you used "stalkers" instead of big guys. The flamethrower can hold it's own against necromorph's like I said, and with the abundance of ammo for it, you should really invest in using it more often.

I suppose, but a single Plasma Cutter round and a TK'D arm usually handles necromorphs okay too.

True, but if you need a weapon to substitute and use for long periods of time to build up ammo for your other guns, the flamethrower does a good job.

Plasma/Line/Force/Pulse Rifle

Plasma is like a magnum when its maxed, Line is good for heavy hitting crowds, Pulse is good for conserving ammo, and Force is awesome against smaller enemies, aswell as big ones with its concentrated shot.

I think the ripper is by far the best gun in the game. Only because one ripper saw can kill as many necromorphs as there are coming at you. Even without upgrades it kills everything very quickly, and isn't too expensive to reload.

I really can't believe how many people love the plasma cutter. Near the end of the game it becomes virtually useless. All of the necro's are black and it takes like 3 shots just to blow off one limb. I had it upgraded to the max and couldn't have been more displeased with it, it became a huge ammo chugger. I ended up spending so much money just buying ammo for that piece of shit that the first time i got to the last boss, i literally had not enough ammo to beat it. I went back a few chapters and switched it out for the ripper, and the game became 10X easier. I could actually get through the last chapter and take my time, instead of booking it most of the way through.

Where the ripper really shines is when they send a lot of the little baby thingies at you, or just hordes of enemies. You just keep one saw spinning in front of you, and they literally shred themselves to death on it. If there's a big enough horde coming, one saw can kill up to 10 enemies (i think that's the most I've done). Then with that one saw, you've earned probably at least quadruple the ammo you've used. Best gun in the game next to the line gun.

As for the other guns, it doesn't really matter. Once you have the line gun and ripper fully upgraded that's all you need. Everything else is just for fun. Though I did really enjoy the contact gun, and used it mainly for selling the ammo I found for it (most expensive ammo in the game), and I used it as a boss killer (it took 3 shots to kill the last boss :) ). Then I used the force gun for the very rare moments when I would get overwhelmed (literally never happened after I got the ripper), and I used it for stalkers.

About to start playing it on hardcore, and I'm sure it won't be that bad once I get the ripper...... did i mention how much i like the ripper?

non-upgraded Flamethrower sucks dick on Brutes. At least as far as I've noticed. I had a way easier time with the Line Gun's alt-fire and some stasis charges.

Seriously? It took down my brutes with ease, were you using the alternate fire?

Yes. I fired TWO, no... THREE alternate fires right into the assholes body and it didn't bring him down.

Dunno what you're doing, but I got proof that the suckers go down in 2-3 shots in my game. :-o

Been working on my gaming backlog lately. No clue why I got Dead Space 2 at launch and put it on the shelf for months. Maybe because I had just finished Dead Space 1 like right before or maybe something else came out around the same time. I dunno, I find Dead Space is one of those games you really have to be in the mood for or else it doesn't do anything for ya.

Rumors of it turning into an action fest were totally bogus. There is a nice mix of horror and action, but I really enjoy the survival element which this game does very well. It still has the jump scares of the first game but the psychological horror is played up a bit more. I feel less a sense of horror as I do a sense of dread and terror at what is waiting is screaming in the next room or stalking silently in the dark.

Story was solid. Giving the main character a voice was a good call. He still very much feels like an every man and not a super powerful space marine. The Sprawl was very fun to explore with the different appartments, shopping districts, and church to explore. This game removed a lot of the backtracking that the first game had and seemed to be a bit longer in length.

Multiplayer was a fun distraction. It really helped scratch that Left 4 Dead itch. I played it with friends a couple times and we moved on. What can I say, any game where griefing is encouraged is my kind of fun. It is very asymetical so balence is out the window but it has a lot of choatic fun. Not great but not awful and the single player did not suffer one bit.

Also I played through Severed. It has its own story which is cool but it is basically just running backwards through two of the campaign levels. It is nice if you want to get every last mile out of DS2 but not really worth the price point for 2 hours of gameplay. Die hards only.

I used plasma cutter (good all around), line gun (amazing), zealot force gun (for times when I was swamped), and contact beam (for big guys and easy kills.) Tried a couple different weapons but they seemed too situationial, too slow, or just not my style.

Current rumors, again, are that EA wants to drastically change Dead Space into some other type of genre in the near future after Dead Space 3 (thankfully.)

From what I read they're to be spinoffs. One an FPS another a flight sim. I'm ok with it as long as the keep the atmosphere and don't drastically change everything in Dead Space 3.

You thought those necromorphs were bad before wait till they learn how to fly fighter jets.

:/

But I thought Extraction was pretty decent for a rail shooter so you could take the universe in different directions. As long as it doesn't interfere with Dead Space 3 and Issac's story I'm ok with it.
