My top 5

1) Gears of War 3: Finishing the fight with tons of new modes and options
2) Batman AC: Build upon everything that made AA great and took it to the next level.
3) Uncharted 3: Amazing but I expected no less.
4) Super Mario 3D Land: The first must own for the handheld.
5) Outland: Overlooked awesome 2D platformer.

While I haven't played all the huge hits from this year yet I'll make a list of the best game's I've played:

1) Batman: Arkham City. Easily the best game I've played this year thus far. Great story, great gameplay, great collectibles, great challenges. Everything I want in a game!

2) Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Surprise game. Enjoyed it so much I 100% completed it twice.

3) Portal 2. Great followup to the amazing first game.

4) Infamous 2: Loved the first game, and the sequel is that much more amazing.

5) MW3. Single player is meh, survival is awesome fun and the multiplayer's the best yet.

King of Fighters XIII

Skyrim. This game... I don't see the end of me playing it. Few games are able to achieve such a high level of details.

Dark Souls!

Skyrim and/or Uncharted 3 will most likely dethrone a couple games on my list. I know I'm at least getting one of them for xmas. Maybe even both.

I haven't played Saints Row: The Third yet...but as of now my game of the year is definitely Skyrim.

For me it comes down to either Portal 2, Uncharted 3, or Arkham City. Really hard to pick one. But since I only have one vote I went with Portal 2. Fantastic form of narrative. I usually find the "silent protagonist" annoying, but they made it work perfectly. COOP was some of the best I've ever played. And the puzzles scaled perfectly in difficulty.
But what sets it apart the most is the improvements from the first game. Uncharted 3 was just as good if maybe slightly better than 2. Arkham city was a lot better than Asylum. But Portal 2 blows them both away. I mean Portal 2 makes Portal 1 look like a tech demo.

Portal 2 for me. I loved the humor, I loved the environment, I loved the story, I loved the acting, I loved the mythology, I loved the simplicity, I loved all the little hidden ARG elements leading up to its release and after its release.

Maybe Skyward Sword will change my mind, I haven't had a chance to take it for a test drive yet and I have such a weakness for Zelda games.




Meh, I'm not so sure. I loved it, but it's certainly not an amazing life changing orgasm of a game that Uncharted 2 was... or even some other games this year that were already released. I'd say, hope for Skyrim.

I guess I'll go with my obvious answer of MvC 3. It's honestly some of the most fun I've had with a videogame for years and took everything I loved about MvC 2 and added more things to make it one of the most fun fighters with a ton of personality. The graphics and music were also monumentally better than the other games in the series, and the gameplay is fantastic. Second place would be Hard Corps Uprising for me. Other than that, those were the only 2011 games I bought. I know Uncharted 3 will most likely tie for first, but I still haven't gotten that. I also really want to try Arkham City, because Arkham Asylum was great.

I don't think I could choose until next year Haven't had a chance to play everything yet. But so far, Portal 2 would be up there and MK9 would get, at the least, an honorable mention.

To be honest it'd probably be L.A Noire. I'd played all the other games on the list but that game was something else.

Same here. I mean Saints Row 3 will be tons of fun when I get it and Portal 2 was a pretty good followup, but L.A Noire just made a wonderful experience for the player.

1. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
2. Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
3. Batman Arkham City
4. Portal 2
5. Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Dark Souls is my number one game. I haven't played anything like it before. It's a very very hard game but once you get good at it, it's really addicting and fun. What I love most of all is the world of Lordran, and the art style for this game. It has a lot more color is certain areas but is also dark and isolating in other areas, and the monster design is insane. Easily some of the most creatively designed monsters I have ever seen in a video game.

I'm surprised that no one has been talking about this game much on TGH forum. Also, Rage wasn't bad.

Rage failed to live up to the hype, if this game had come out 5 years ago it would be groundbreaking but now it just feels old hat. Sure Rage looks nice but it lacks the open world-ness of Fallout and the crazy loot of Borderlands. Nothing bad about it, but it just isn't GotY material.

skyrim is bethesdas best game to date IMO and easily my choice for GoTY.
