I saw the game this morning on the dashboard and became interested when I saw it was free.

It's not free, you only get a trial if you download it. Then you can either pay 1200 msp for the full game or just 800 to play as one of the characters.
If you bought all of the other Summer of Arcade games though you should receive a code to unlock the full game for free.

No Skill Trees
No inventory selling at shops

How is this an RPG? I've seen deeper dungeon crawls on the PS2. I'm waiting for Torchlight II and not going to waste time with this.

Hack and Slash yes. RPG not really.

Thank of it more like a poor man's Guantlet because even Guantlet Legends and Dark Legacy had some character leveling and stat bonuses.

Not all RPGs have leveling. This IS an RPG, you just get your stat boosts from equipment as opposed to levels. Besides, they are categorizing it as an action RPG, which fits it pretty perfectly. If you guys haven't played it, it's really fun but it definitely needs to be played with 2 or more people. It's kind of a shame though that there are only 3 classes.

That IS weird, especially with 4 player mode. I'm glad it's Gauntlet-y and most of the leveling and such is automated. I'm waiting for more reviews to come in. How lengthy of a game is it?

Supposedly it's about 6 hours long. Each level has a ranking system though, so you can go back and try to get gold on each level or whatever. It's kind of a weird game, but fun nonetheless.
