Dead Island, whos getting it on what

walmart is having a 3 day sale for it for only $50, but im curious whos getting it for what. im torn between the 360 and the pc.

also, where did the dead island topic go? been searching around but couldnt find it.

Getting it on 360, but not until the 16th. Buddy is picking me up a copy for my bday. I actually got to see hands-on gameplay for Dead Island and it looks like lots of fun. I would say it's like Fallout 3 with zombies and not many guns. Even the NPCs have the blank Fallout-like stare going on. Good atmosphere too. Things can get really tense when you're walking down a dark hallway with only your flashlight and all of a sudden you have 5 zombies in your face.

I will be getting it for the PS3 when I do pick it up. The only thing is I don't necessarily need it right now. I just got a PS3 and I have a buttload of current gen games to catch up on. Right now I'm playing Deus Ex, Borderlands, Symphony of the Night and Metal Gear Solid. I might buy it just so I have it but I have a huge list of games I need to play still!

Does it even have multiplayer? I didn't hear anything about that but I haven't been following it.

Right now I'm busy with LA Noir and Dues Ex and Gears 3 is coming out in a couple weeks. I might try to gamefly Dead Island for 360/PS3 but I doubt I'll have that much time to play it.

Not on the top of my list, I've been saving money for a new 360 and after that I'm thinking of getting the Uncharted 3 Limited Edition, so if I have money to spare I'll probably buy it :rabbid:

I'm getting it on PC because I'm turning in to a PC snob. I'm pretty stoked about it. Some previews have said it's bad because it's L4D mixed with Fallout and Dead Rising. How the hell is that a bad thing?

Not sure if I am going to get it. I had seen over 20 minutes of gameplay footage and it seemed decent, but it also seemed like it lacked a little bit of polish. I'll wait to see what the general consensus is about it once it comes out this Tuesday.

Although...even then I probably won't be getting it for a little while, but when I do it will be on the 360. (My PC is a piece of shit.)

It is done by the people who do Call of Juarez (you have to admit is at best a B lister)

They have also done a mess of lame racers so don't expect Bethesda or Valve quality here. Could be a sleeper hit, could be a train wreak, I dunno.

Yeah, but the newest call of juarez was done by their JV squad anyways. All their varsity team is playing for the Dead Island team. It's not really fair to use call of juarez as a measuring stick.

But I agree, what else do you have to compare it to. I'm hoping for sleeper hit. I've loved zombie fiction since back in the day and it's nice seeing so many mediums adopting it and giving their spin on it.

They've made Chrome, Chrome Specforce, Call of Juarez, Call of Juarez Bound in Blood, and Call of Juarez the Cartel (and now Dead Island and Chrome 2). But I'm pretty sure this is the team in the developer that worked on Chrome and the first Call of Juarez, Dead Island has been in development for a very long time (likely back burnered a couple times)

IGN gave it a good review 8/10 if my memory is correct.... Just sayin. Don't care if you trust IGn or not, it's the only full review I could find right now. They said it borrows heavily from Fallout 3 but mixed with zombies and that sounds amazing if you ask me.

I've seen about 2-3 hours of gameplay and I would say this is correct. Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games so I think it'll be awesome.

Meh. After all the hype that trailer generated, everything I've read and watched about it since thern just makes it look like a L4D clone with some Dead Rising mechanics, and a bit of Borderlands thrown in for good measure.

More Borderlands/Fallout than Left4Dead actually. Guns are very scarce and I found there's far more tension than in L4D.

Link I think this is a game you might actually like. There's a lot of tension and it's actually got a decent RPG element to it, but it also suffers from the hilarious glitches most Bethesda games suffer from. Some of the side missions are rather retarded though. Find some chick a bottle of champagne? Yeah... that's my main priority in a zombie-infested island...

Give it a rent I say. If you like it wait a few months and it'll be cheaper by xmas.
