Suggesting that it goes here, if only because it feels as if these two universes are connected.

vincent showed up at the club in P3P sometimes just fyi

you can't do much but hear him talk about his troubles, really

i'm unsure as to if it was just an attempt to tease their next game or if they also wanted to show that the two games are connected

i haven't played catherine and won't be able to for awhile, most likely, so

Well, they do have some Persona related references in the Stray Sheep Bar, such as school logos and stuff, so... not sure if it's Easter Eggs or not. However, given the general weirdness of the universe and the art style, and his appearance in P3P, I'm willing to assume they are connected in some capacity. At the very least it's tied to the SMT universe somehow.

Got around to beating Catherine. I do enjoy puzzle games (I always did well with spatial awareness) so this was a nice challenge. Fair warning, you probally will die a lot before you get the hang of things or know exactly what to do, be it is very rewarding to beat a nasty level. It isn't easy, but the game is pretty generous with the extra lives and easy mode lets you rewind time if you trap yourself or need a quick do over. The non-puzzle parts let you interact with patrons of a bar and send text messages in order to uncover the deeper mysteries of the story, it is cooler than it sounds.

The graphics and art style are great. The animation in the cutscenes and in game graphics match up nicely. It is anime but doesn't feel cheap and stock like some anime. The story is unique but gets a bit long winded and tends to overexplain some things. You go from fast paced puzzles to slow paced non-interactive cutscenes which kind of kills the flow and pace of things.

There is a morality system in place and one of the cooler aspects is that the game tells you how other people are voting, so some of the results may surprise you. The morality system only really effects the endings and a couple moments of inner monologe, sadly you can't really change how the story plays out on a moment to moment basis. This is kind of annoying if you are really pushing for one of the girls but you now you have to do something with the other because the story says so, Mass Effect this ain't.

Overall I'd say give it a shot.

I don't want to be all "games are art!" here, but I think this is intentional to show how out of whack the main character is because of these nightmares. He's very lethargic and not rested to his full potential, and it's reflected in the gameplay by taking you out of your "rhythm" and making things more difficult for you when you re-enter the nightmare world. Just a thought on my part, it could be total bullshit, but I think it makes sense.

If you play offline it actually has a poll from... I dunno, 2010 I guess, somewhere/someway that breaks it down even further between what males answered and what females answered for the questions. So you can see all the differences between men & women and you have even more chances to be surprised by some shocking unexpected result.

I don't know all the differences or when they happen, but I assume they appear anytime the meter shows up during a cutscene. I think you have fundamentally different Vincents depending on your answer. Sure, the plot is very static, but your main character is dynamic in a lot of ways. I'd wager it's almost like a different game in some aspects because of that.

Spoiler
I don't know what path you went but I pushed for Catherine pretty much from the start. Even though I made every attempt to get Catherine and blow off Katherine, I still had to break up with Catherine and attempt to get back with Katherine when the plot demanded. I was so discouraged by this I started to think maybe you couldn't get Catherine at all and you just get a straight up bad ending. I did get Catherine but not until very near the end.

Anyway from what I heard read only the inner monolouge (What vincent says to himself when the meter pops up) and the actual ending you get are impacted by the decisions you make. So don't expect radical branching paths in the story which I think would have added a lot to a second and third playthru.

Yeah, I wasn't under the impression there were branching paths, but...

Spoiler
It is interesting you still have to try and get back together with K despite everything. I figured from Day 7 on it'd be a different plot almost. Interesting and somewhat disappointing, but I'm curious as to how that all plays out in Vincent's head anyways.

damn, i was really hoping the P4 remake would end up on the PSP, although this prolly means it'll be superior to the original in every way then (unless they actually go the visual novel route again, which would be frankly dumb)

but this also means i'll prolly never get to play it

its gonna have a new playable chaarcter and female love interest, more voiceovers, more animated scenes, possibly new personas and events to do. its basically Persona 4: 2.0. they'll probably upscale the graphic resolution some as well

yeah, i know. i was mostly meaning the graphics and cutscenes, really. while p3p had a numerous amount of additions and changes, it can still seem inferior to some because it's graphics and cutscenes take a big hit thanks to the PSP not being as strong as the PS2 (half of Persona 3 & 4's charm is, after all, it's presentation). since this port of P4 will be on the vita, i doubt we'll have to worry about that.

I dunno some of the later PSP titles come real close to PS2 quality. Dissidia and Birth by Sleep look amazing and on par with just about anything on the PS2. Heck they ended up porting a bunch of PSP games to the PS2 (GTA, Twisted Metal, Silent Hill, Motorstorm.)

It seems there will be 2 Fools: P4 MC and Aegis. It seems the P3 Mc will not be in unless he is a secret character as there IS room on both sides for another card slot. Considering though both P3 Mc can be the universe Arcana. hopefully there will be upgraded personas as well and not just the base forms. Ie. I hope P4 MC has Izanagi no Okami, the World Arcana as a selectable form as well which is possible as it seems you can select persona based on the character select screen. It seems its Teddy's faul the tournament thing is happening lol of course

Confirmed:
Fool: Aegis
Fool: P4 MC(whatever they name him this time)
High Priestess: Yukiko
Magician: Yosuke
Chariot: Chie
Emperor: Kanji

unconfirmed:

I assume since its named Persona 4 the Ultimate, all P4 characters will be in, so I assume

Fortune: Naoto
Star: Teddy

are in. possible ones left

Lovers: Yukari(Rise can not fight period)
Empress: Mitsuru

though thats only speculation but the only ones I can see though Junpei has nothing to do ever so he is also possible lawl

who knows, I wanna know soon though

Yeah, guess I'll never get around to playing Persona 4, because I play way more portable games than console, and I don't forsee myself having a Vita until like... fuck, 3 or more years after it's out.

I've always been a way late adopter on the portable scene. Just got a DS two weeks ago. I think Vita will be the one that breaks that for me, I'll probably pick one up near day one and P4 as soon as it's out. I never got around to playing P4 on PS2 but played the hell out of P3. I did get an emulator on PC to run P4 at a pretty good clip but still never had the time to play it. Playing on the go would rock.

Persona 4 is about 3 million times more amazing that Persona 3.

I would kill for a Vita just for those extras because it's that good.

I have P3 and P4 on the PS2, I've just never had the time to sit down in front of a TV to play "old" games. I maybe get to play 1 console game a month, if I'm lucky.

I heard on Hard News that they're making a Persona fighting game made by the same crew as Blazblue and Guilty Gear.

I now am interested in the Persona series.
