dorm and taskmaster got represented pretty well, I thought. a couple players in the quarter and semi finals used them I think (I know combofiend used taskmaster). deadpool not as much, although I remember spotting a couple matches with him in them.

Speaking of Taskmaster, how did Hawkeye get into UMVC3? Taskmaster is sort of like the Necron of Marvel, having a fighting style made up of a ton of different hand to hand fighters. One of those guys is Hawkeye, who he completely has down. Not saying he'll be a bad character, I'm just trying to figure out why he was picked instead of someone else. It seems like a wasted opportunity when they could have put someone else in who's more interesting with their powers, like maybe the Void or one of the Runaways. Hawkeye doesn't really have any big book projects in the work I'm aware of either.

Then again, that move where he shoots Hank Pym at someone was pretty sweet.

Yeah, Taskmaster was used more after I watched some quarter and semi final matches. Combofiend was really good with his Spencer. I haven't seen much of Form though. I guess I may have missed him while skimming through.

Speaking of Deadpool, this was one of the bigger fails I've seen from the tourny. It must feel awful to be on such a streak, only to get yourself KOd in the process:

@Dark I was actually going to ask you if Hawkeye had anything that Taskmaster didn't cover in MvC 3. It kind of seems odd, but I'm sure they'll have some distinction between their playing style. Maybe he's in it for the sake of the Avengers film?

I was gonna say, Hawkeye is a big name Avenger (even in the cartoon), of course he's in it. Plus he's gonna be in the movies, and he's had a couple of comics staring him over the past year or two.

Hawkeye's the shit, I'm glad that he's coming in the game... ^_^

that match reset win PR Rog pulled off with tron was amazing not only because it was 1 against 3 + dark phoenix, but also because tron wasn't getting much use outside of her assist. it was fun to watch her tear shit up.

I need to see this seeing that Tron was the #1 character I was hoping to be in the game... ^_^

Ah snap tourneyfags! MK has almost outsold both SF4 and MVC3 combined!

The original Street Fighter IV sold 3 million units in a month on the consoles alone. The article stated Super IV.

I dunno if it sold that month in a month, but it certainly surpassed 3 million, yeah.

According to Wikipedia (because it never lies), Street Fighter IV passed the 3 million mark by the end of March 2009, which was a month and a half after release. I wouldn't be surprised, because Street Fighter was out of the scene for quite a few years and not making a canon on disk release since 3rd Strike. Plus, Street Fighter has huge support from the fans.

I'm still surprised how well MK 9 sold. Good to hear their efforts paid off after Midway losing the license.

ah, ok. I know SFIV basically single-handedly reinvigorated the fightmans genre, didn't know it did it that fast

Yeah, I do agree on that. Tekken and Soulcalibur may be great, but neither games had as much attention as Street Fighter IV when it came out. It also helped that it deserved that attention, because it's a really good game.

I've only been really playing MK this summer, anyone else play MK on a regular? I usually main subzero, and second cyber and cyrax. Also it's good to know the MK hype hasn't really died, and that it's still going strong with frequent tournaments and what not. Too bad, I'm back at college now and don't have my xbox...i guess it's back to ssb and fighter's destiny.

Finally own a copy of SF:3rd strike it's the newly released online edition for XBLA and PSN. Bought the XBLA one I was never really good at 3rd strike. Now would be a good time to practice up do some of the trials and pick a character to get good at.

You're in for a long, arduous road, believe me

Probally for the best, too many high profile games are coming out in the next few months it would just get lost in the shuffle.
