The Rebug firmware has nothing to do with the discovery of the PS3's rootkey.
This is, just to note, entirely Sony's fault. They left sensitive abilities in the debug mode on all commercial PS3's that allowed this to happen! It's not the fault of Hotz finding their poorly hidden Root key, or the firmware creators fault for wanting to mess with a debug mode (to note, there's nothing on their site on how to do this)
And if it entirely from a hack on the PSN servers ... it has nothing to do with either of those things and was probably due to poor server security or someone working for Sony leaking access.
In otherwords, could people stop getting pissed off about random things they've happened to heard about that has something to do with PlayStation and generically blaming it for whatever issues are currently happening? Nobody knows much of anything at this point and jumping to conclusions so quickly is not just pointless ... it's really annoying.
Sony has fault for the PSN having crap security. But at this point I want this hacker in jail. But thats jsut hoping they could even begin to pinpoint the source. There's modding and cheating on a game and then there is stuff like this. There is no reason for this and I highly doubt Anonymous cares much for this kind of attack either. The one who did it plain and simple just took opportunity of a relatively, and probably initially intended harmless CFW to express his or her greed
Though in the end I expect the new PSN to block anyone who has that dev account firmware and require an update. The dev accounts probably won't work even if someone still had them considering they are rebuilding. most likely those accounts will no longer exist so at this point Rebug is a moot subject. Two things that need to be done
1. Sony needs to tighten security on PSN
2. Hacker needs to be caught and made an example of. There are just some things people should not do. This is one of them
