VERY LITTLE COMIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED TO ENJOY THIS EPISODE

Issue 56 will be out later tonight, suckahs. Although Mongo might get you an audio version sooner rather than later if he's feeling nice about it.

I'm only about 20 minutes through, and I probably won't be done before I go to work, but I just want to remark about Mongo's comment about Link sounding more like me

I think it's just me, but Link kind of sounded like Chad from Screwattack.

Computer is being a little bitch tonight, mostly laggy Internets so it's making picture finding difficult. I'm going to finish this up tomorrow morning and post it here.

Not to sound like I'm upset by the lack of just straight up comic talk on recent YIBR's...but it was indeed nice to hear you guys just "shooting the shit" about a bunch of comics and such again :-D .

I didn't have much of a problem with Punisher: In the Blood, (aside from the cop-out "not my wife" crap) until toward the end of the last issue when
Spoiler
a grenade explodes pretty much literally right at Frank and Jigsaws feet. Somehow they both survive (these aren't super humans here so what the hell?) and while JigSaw at least got kind of melty looking in the face, Punisher is totally fine.

Maybe I just missed something but for some reason THAT was my biggest gripe with the series. An odd thing to focus on, but, it stood out to me in a bad way.

As far as Hawkeye goes, I don't care if he doesn't get his own regular on going series, as long as they keep doing these mini-series and they keep being as good as they've been so far I'll be happy!

Venom's been good so far too, curious though to see where they go with it.

I enjoyed it too. As far as the other stuff going on in the tournament, the first round is going to be the longest one. That is where all the big points are going to be made. The other rounds should go way faster.

Hopefully yes. As much as I enjoy the tourney, I don't think anybody really expected it to be like a 3 month ordeal when we threw the idea out there.

The image of Grant Morrison in my head only makes me like him more.

That might be the most hilariously awesome thing I've ever imagined.

I honestly didn't even realized Bat Woman hasn't come out yet because I stopped giving a shit back in December. The Bat delays are annoying; but that Azrael story is probably the worst of it.** I was wondering the same thing as Link about Grayson's wound.

I didn't have much of a problem with the White Knight arc though. That White Lantern Batman promo art was for Brightest Day, not for B&R and while I wish the arc was extended to six issues, we at least got a new Batman villain with some good Dick and Damian moments. I still haven't read last week's Gotham City Sirens book yet (plan to in a few minutes) but the Harley issues prior to it were pretty good. I will agree though that Detective Comics is probably the best of the Bat books right now. Snyder's Jim Gordon Jr. storyline is really cool and Fancesco Francavilla's art is the perfect fit for it.

While on the subject of Batman related books, am I the only one starting to get bored with the current status quo? As good a fit as Dick Grayson is for Batman, I miss him as Nightwing. He's worn the outfit for over a year now and has yet to have a great defining storyline. Plus every time I see a Batman in a book it feels like a guessing game as to who it is because even with the two different suits, I've seen artists drawn Bruce in Dick's outfit. The other annoying thing about all of this is that Bruce came back, but is relegated to only being used in Batman Inc as far as I know.

Lastly I think you guys might have just been mistaken on Brubaker and Fear Itself. As far as I can reacll all of the marketing for it said Fraction; which would make sense because its supposed to revolve around Iron Man and Thor which he's also writing.

** Just read the last 2 parts. The Gotham City Sirens book was meh (boring, but not offensively terrible), but the conclusion in Batman 709 was awful. The whole Prodigy thing was the part that pissed me off the most.

I think he's also the Batman in The Dark Knight that only has 2 issues out right now. I enjoy Grayson as Batman, I think he's had a few cool arcs here and there, not like "zomfg defining" but good stories. Specifically the Paul Cornell story in Batman & Robin, and Scott Snyder's Black Mirror story.

I think the reason I thought the Brightest Day stuff was related to Batman & Robin is because they were advertised around the same time. Not to mention when you say "White Knight" you sort of automatically assume White Lanterns since that's the big thing going on, and even then they did something similar with our much hated issue of Batman & Robin where it was called "Blackest Knight" and was all about Batman's deceased clone, which at the time we thought was him, and it had shit all to do with Black Lanterns.
