ugh... Pretty much giving up on the Sens making the playoff this year. I couldn't watch the game Saturday after the second period. Thank god there are a ton of contracts ending this year and pretty much a brand new defensive core coming up next year for us. Our defence is beyond terrible this season and the sooner Jared Cowen is NHL ready the better. We need a big guy cleaning up garbage in front on the net and that's just not going on.

Also, can't wait until Kovalev and Leclaire's contracts end and we can use that money for better uses... like a bag of pucks... ugh... I'm a little sad right now as you can tell, and with the Blackhawks not doing so well I may jump on the Canucks bandwagon to win the cup this year (although I've become a closet Thrashers fan this year because of all the Hawks players on the team).

I finally got tired of Elliott wrecking my goalie stats, but I wasn't sure who to replace him with. I saw Dan Ellis, figured Tampa Bay was looking good, and picked him up. About ten minutes later, I found out the Islanders had traded Dwayne Roloson to the Lightning.

Fuck.

A few minutes after that, I thought, "Roloson might still be available". I searched his name, and sure enough, he was still there. I picked him up in Ellis' place, and what does he do in his first game with Tampa Bay? He shuts out the Capitals. Yes! :-D

I think I might finally have goalies I can count on.

Oy... fun times in Ottawa today. Talk that if the Sens stink it up this weekend Lehner will be coming up. Talks that they'll be a huge seller at the trade deadline. Fun times here for sure.

I really hope now that Bryzgolov gets back into form now that he's back from injury. With him out I've been playing musical goalies to find a good #2 to Thomas. Had Brian Boucher for awhile, then Steve Mason became available. Thankfully Mason is on a 3 game win streak. If he can turn it around I could have 3 goalies kicking ass! I need it with my buddy Rob 3 points behind me now. Sevens, kick his ass this week!

Looks like I'm 8-5-1 this week. Not exactly an ass kicking, but still pretty solid, thanks in large part to goaltending.

The only time I really slipped up was when I benched Dubinsky for Staal last night. Dubinsky had two assists, and if I had gotten those, I would have been 9-5.

All things considered, I'm happy with it.

Sevens, you helped me extend my lead to 11 points so I thank you for that!

So it's official, the Sens are having a fire sale. Everybody must go! Who wants Kovalev, Kuba and Leclaire??? I think the only player that's truely safe is Karlsson.

You're quite welcome. I'll see you in a couple weeks.

Rangers have traded Michal Rozsival to Phoenix for Wojtek Wolski. At first glance, this looks like a pretty good deal. Frolov is out for the season, so they needed to replace him, and Rozsival has been shaky defensively. It also gains $1.2M in cap space.

Heatley nets two goals and McGinn scores his first of the year snapping a six-game skid in front of their Dads with a 4-2 victory over the Blues!

ALL STAR GAME BABY!

Saw the draft last night and I really like what I saw!

No East vs West deal, it's all back to the ways you did it when you were kids. So who's gonna win?

Team Lidstrom or Team Staal?

I really don't care much because this is going to be a SWEET game!

I'm cheering for team Lidstrom due to all the Blackhawks on the team, but I hope Karlsson does well for team Stall. I think Lidstrom's team was more strategically put together and will pay off. I missed most of the skills competition as I had a curling match last night.

Also, let the push to the playoffs begin! Who do you guys think will squeak in or narrowly miss the playoffs? Who do you think might take home the cup? I think the finals will either be Canucks/Flyers or Red Wings/Penguins. Canucks and Flyers have just been stellar all season so it wouldn't surprise me if they carried that momentum to the finals. All depends on playoff matchups. If the Flyers meet the Penguins and the Canucks meet the Blackhawks in the playoffs.... that might change. Also, as soon as the Red Wings are healthy they will be a force in the playoffs, as per usual I think.

Also, screw you Sevens! You're going to win our pool matchup because we only had played two games this week!

Didn't you see this? I'm not getting off that easy.

Unfortunately, I think the Flyers might have what it takes this year. Maybe their goaltending will fail them again.

I can see the Bruins making some noise. With that defense and Tim Thomas in goal, they could be the sleeper.

The Blackhawks aren't what they were last year. They lost too many key players over the summer. It will be hard for them to repeat.

Then game on! :yuush:

Yeah, I highly doubt the Blackhawks will repeat this year. Plus side, they may now have a good goalie in Crawford. I seriously think it will be a Flyers/Canucks final. Both teams seem to really want it this year.

yeah... that was a pounding. All my player decided to have season lows and all yours.. well... and how many shut outs did you have? 3 or 4? Yeah... I'll give you that one Sevens! Only my second matchup loss.

I'm actually surprised it turned out like this. When I found out the matchup had been extended another week, I thought I was in trouble. You're not sitting atop this pool for no reason.

I had four shutouts, but I could have done without that last one, because it gave you the extra GWG.

Roloson has been incredible for me, the same way Thomas has been for you.

I'm still gunning for your division lead, but good luck the rest of the season, anyway.

Well the Sens fire sale has started! Fisher was traded to Nashville for their first round pick this year and a conditional second or third round pick next you. Sad to see Mike go, but you can't say no to a first round pick, ESPECIALLY for Fisher. So right now Ottawa has 2 first rounders, one being a top 3 and the other a top 20. Phillips and Ruutu should be next to go. I can hope they'll get a first rounder for Phillips, but it's probably be a second rounder unless there's a huge bidding war. Rumours are that Kovalev could be going to Pittsburg. Not too sure about that though. Well, good move Murray but I still don't know if you'll have a job with us next year...

Well what they had wasn't working, much as I despise the Sens they sucked a lot of ass this season, Alfred + Spezz been down for a good part of the season, and the team just loses all rhythm. I mean they aren't sticking up the ice like the Leafs, but I dunno what is going on with them. The Sens need some love between the pipes, lets hope this kid Lehner does it for them.

Yeah, it's time for the Sens to reboot. We've been really lucky in Ottawa to have a playoff team for almost 15 years. It was a matter of time before this happened. I'd say the only untouchables are Alfredsson, Karlsson, Spezza (mark my words, he's being groomed to be the next captain) and Lehner. Rest are for sale. Kelly was traded a few days ago. 2 core guys gone so... no one beyond the list I gave is really safe. This will be one trade deadline and draft I'll be glued to. I really hope Sens land Landeskog in the draft. He's like the Sweedish Mike Richards and with Alfie as a mentor I think he would be an awesome fit for the Sens.

On the flip side, looks like Leafs are in rebuild mode 2.0. Burke's cleaning house again, so probably no playoffs for them for the next 3-5 years. Kaberle may FINALLY get traded, but I hear the only team he'll waive his no trade clause to is Boston.

I say sign Sundin, that way it'll be easier to get Gillis to be fired sooner then later and then maybe we can beg and plead and get Nonis back or someone who knows how to build a team. This was the one offseason in which Nonis would finally have Burkie's dead weight contracts eliminated but no he never got a chance to really build his own team, it's a real shame.

Good news, bad news for me today.

Good news: Rangers beat the crap out of the Flyers, 7-0.

Bad news: Boucher was chased at 4-0. Bobrovsky comes in, giving my opponent this week his third game, validating his goalie stats and costing me points.

I'll take that trade-off.
