not sure how many of you know or should I say knew of media play as there were only 50 or 60 stores in about 20 states, but it was IMO an awesome store that was around from the early 90s to the mid 2000's , as the name implies they sold anything media, CDs, DVDs, books, video games, instraments, music related clothing , posters etc , it was for the longest time my favorite store , there was a period from about 98 til 2002 where we went there every other day.

sucks they went out of buisness, best buy doesnt have nearly the amount of movies or music media play did, borders matches it on books, and obviously most game stores beat them on that, but still it was a great store, great lay out, just an over all great vibe in the place.

anyone else remember or miss media play?

they used to have one here around the time in the mid 90s. I don't remember buying much there but they were one of the few places that had a large selection of 3DO and PC games.

we have "FYE" (for your entertainment) and also Suncoast Video. I miss suncoast video...

And I think the biggest flop ever was Blockbuster Music (you see, instead of renting movies, you rent cds, genius concept huh?)

Our Blockbuster music (I thought they just sold I never remember them renting music) turned into an awesome place called Warehouse Music.

They had a good selection of music, weird movies, some anime, and retro games. The best part is they didn't care about pricing the games so I got a bunch of rare stuff like Shining Force 2, Phantasy Star 3, and Landstalker for $2 each.
