As of Sunday June 1 the latest wrestling pay per view event involved one of the greatest wrestlers and one of my favorites The Undertaker. What kind of match was he in you say well it was a tables, ladders, and chairs match. Who was his opponent well none other than the guy who he has been having a rival with for the past few months. That person is Edge which is a wrestler that does anything to win a match.

Why is this match important well apparently The Undertakers career was on the line in this match if he lost. So as you can already guess he lost his match and his career with it. This sucks on a big note since this is the second wrestler to retire this year. The first being Ric Flair ugh not a good year for wrestling so far. Getting rid of two major wrestler well I'm not so upset about Ric Flair. Since he was old and past his prime but The Undertaker come on he could still wrestler with the best.

I was wondering about this whole Undertaker thing.
I havn't been to like say, prowrestling.com in quite a while so I don't know what's been going on behind the scenes, but was there any real info about him retiring? If not I've got to assume that he's just on break and he'll be back somehow in a few months...at least I hope, Undertaker rules :yuush: .

I haven't really followed wrestling in like 10 or 15 years but I remember The Undertaker was one of my favs back in the day. Actually he still seems like he can mix it up with the new kids unlike someone like Hulk Hogan who has for a long time been a joke. I guess if he wants to retire or leave the franchise that is cool, but being forced to retire by some new kid seems like a pretty weak way to write out the man who cannot die.

Like the poster above said it's probally just a stunt and he will come back in some form or another.

they never retire like this for real, plus if you look at the undertaker he always takes 2 - 4 months off every year, hell disapear for a while, rest up his old bones, and then come back with one of his grand returns, does it every year, soon as I saw him lose I thought - welp, well be seeing him in 3 - 4 months .

as for his "real retirement" id bet mass amounts of money he will permanently retire somewhere around 1 - 3 months after wrestlemania 25.

Mick Foley? Yeah they brought him back for random matches here and there throughout the following years but he was essentially done when he was "retired" by Triple H.

they brought him back an awful lot, but yea that would be one example, I really dont think the undertaker is going out this way though, wrestlemania 25 is a big deal, and he will be around for that, then hell retire for real , and IMO wont do none of this come back / retire agian stuff alot of the wrestlers do.

Well if that does end up happening I get to see it live. Lucky for me Wrestle mania is coming to my town next year. I'm all over it I have yet to get my tickets but I hear they are going on sale soon and I'm hoping I get a decent seat.

Oh and TriforceCaptre Mick Foley is now co-announcer on Friday Night Smackdown. I give it to him he is a hell of a lot better than Johnathan Coachman as a co-announcer. Hopefully he will stick around for awhile the last two co-host on Smack Down were dud's. Nobody can top Jerry The King and J.R. as announcers.

I think I stopped really paying attention to wrestling around the time WWE(WWF) Bought out WCW and ECW. I really liked how they had a variety and the competition made all three companies strive for quality. Now it seems too gimmicky.

ECW used to be what a hardcore fan would tune into just to see the most gruesome matches with the most dedicated performers alive such as the great Terry Funk. WCW was what some one that wanted to view of up and coming superstars and those that were already established that wanted a new scene. As for WWF(WWE) most tuned in for the well played feuds of The Rock/Stone Cold Steve Austin/Undertaker/Kane/ect.

Now that there only is two which are WWE and TNA which is trying to reinvent the wheel with the X-Division and taking a page of lucha libre by incorporating the 6-sided ring. I find myself tuning in more to TNA than spending time watching WWE just because they have watered down and have made their "matches" so predictable that it's almost a sure bet that John Cena/Randy Orton will be champion.

I remember a great interview that a radio show did down here with Kurt Angle when he decided to jump ship and go to TNA. Kurt said "I was overworked underpaid and unappreciated". He also said that many of the things that had happened to him such as the broken neck he suffered from Brock Lesnar was never fully repaired just because Vince McMahon would use him as fillers. He said much more but I don't have much time to put all of the things he said just because it was a 2 hour interview. Now I don't know if he was telling the truth or just saying things because he jumped but he stated alot of shocking things about the management that is WWE. I will try to post a link to the podcast of the interview later. Still when I heard this from Kurt it seemed as if he was speaking without any restrictions and with truth.

Anyways I am getting off topic. I have stopped really following wrestling as I once did but every now and then I tune in.

Yeah, I caught that last night. I happened to put on SD and heard this voice I wasn't familiar with, then all of a sudden I see Foley sitting behind the table :-o . Pretty cool. But when I was talking about him being retired I meant from like, being a regular wrestler. He was a general manager or whatever for quite a while after he stopped wrestling too, so I'm totally aware that he's still been in the business.

I just checked, the whole thing's a storyline :-D

Apparently he'll be off 2-12 months, apparently due to injury.

Apparently he's replacing Big Show on their house shows soon, he's not gone. He'll be taking a break. It's the Undertaker, he will retire at Wrestlemania, possibly ending his winning streak, but he wouldn't leave at a small PPV like One Night Stand.

As for wrestling in general, WWE is terrible now, TNA has poor storylines but far better wrestling than WWE. I loved ECW, but Vince has ruined that now as well.

Well from what I've understood Undertaker is still signed to WWE so I expect that he'll return sooner or later.

Yeah, WWE is really lame these days; I prefer to watch old episodes and PPVs from the early 90s... well, honestly I'm more into puroreso these days but still.

TNA is worse than WWF... Yeah, WWF is nowhere near as good as it was, hell, I don't even watch it now, but TNA is just... egh. I mean it was kinda fun at first, but it's just got stale. The matches are as bad, if not worse, than the WWF ones, because these guys basucally do big move after big move with kickout after kickout. It removes the impact from big moves, which even in Japan(before any "puroresu" people get on my case about this, they only do that on big matches, their regular shows are kinda like what you see on WWE, I used to get NOAH weekly on TV), are used sparingly to give the effect that they are dangerous moves, and that they should be feared.

Unfortunately, with TNA, you can no longer see something like an Emerald Frosion or a verttical brainbuster and think "OH SHIT! HE KEELED HIM!" because AJ Styles or whoever kicks out of them 17 times a week. Stupidity at it's finest.

At this point reading about professional wrestling (especially "behind-the scenes" bits) is far more interesting than watching the actual product.

I use to be a wrastling fan, but now they're using to many gimmicks. Also the new shows made it like a soap opera. I think that when the athletes get "injured", that's really their vacation time.

Speaking of gimmicks, the "Ultimate Warrior" documentation is hilarious. The WWE itself totally ridicules him. Start here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7_RgCG9AE4
