How old is too old when it comes to dating?

I'm currently 5 years younger than my boyfriend and when we started dating I was legally an adult. Yet I have a family member who is 22 and is now dating a 16 year old girl. I know I shouldn't judge seeing how I have almost the same age gap and that I'll always support that family member but its just the whole really young thing that makes me bothered. Maybe if she was 18 I'd feel more comfortble but she's not turning that for 2 years. What in your opinion is the age limit for dating? How many years younger or older? Please and thanks =)

It's always hard to draw any real lines in this matter; one 16 year old can be really mature, while another is virtually a child. So it's hard to tell without knowing the people involved.
But, as I see it the age difference grows smaller the older you get. I mean, a 17 year old dating a 12 year old is really creepy, but when it's a 20 year old and a 25 year old it's really no difference to speak of. I personally think 22 and 16 is a bit much, simply because one is still in high school, and lacks all the adult experiences of the other. But, who am I to judge?

Yeah, I'd have to agree with Dreamwalker.

For instance, I've been dating my boyfriend since I was 16 (I'll be 20 next month) and he was 21 (so we're 5 years apart as well). And I won't lie, I'd rather date someone older than me than younger or the same age. Because the guys who are my age are pretty much children. Sure there are the rare ones who might actually be mature, but that's once in a blue moon.

Maturity is a big decider if I ever met someone around the age 18 that I like, but I rather for them to be someone that I could go to a bar with and drink. I would feel awkward with a jack and coke in my hand and her drinking sprite.

Now for the older ladies, a raisin has wrinkles, and they taste so sweet. ^^

1/2 Your Age + 7 = The youngest you can swing it without being creepy.

It's an odd topic when one of the people in the relationship is a teenager, to be sure. The age difference of course is not as big a deal later in life than it is early on. That being said as long as it is legal, I don't have a problem with it, even if I do find it a little odd.

That being said, I knew a girl who when she was 16 or so dated a 30-year-old. Yeah.

think this only matters in middle/high school. By the time you hit college and real life, it just becomes a number.

I'm always a 4 up, 3 down kind of dude. 4 years older is fine and 3 years younger since i'm 21

. Maturity is a big factor, start dating someone really young like 15-17 they start to cling A LOT (no offense to anyone) as in totally, it's either some are totally promiscuous, or really clingy based on experience. But that's totally up to your age.

I just didn't want to be all chained up before 25.

So whatever. None of them worked out in the end. So that goes to show you that age doesnt mean shit. Stay away from the under 18 crowd and youre set to jet.

Remember 16 will get ya 20.

EDIT: The ones I posted were relationships that lasted 3months or more. Under that ones or flings I didnt put.

19-17 (yeah... ummm can't really defend that one, can I? What can I say, I like to live dangerously.)

Now i personally feel as long as you have breath in your body and your partners comfortable with it then your allowed to date. In retrospect it is my only wish that most people find their partner early in life and not in the later phases as that can produce some very lonely people in the long run. As for too old to date? Never you could die tomorrow but that last day would be worth it to hell and back if you had someone to love.
