I expected it to be something else than some guy fell on him too, but that doesn't mean more fighting and arguing can't happen in future issues.

As enjoyable as the issue was I cannot fully enjoy this "One Moment in Time" story because the whole thing about Peter and MJ's marriage still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Plus, something that really got on my nerves was at the very beginning when they re-show the "deal", MJ tells Mephisto that he can "never bother peter again"...Is that the thing she whispered to him that we didn't get to see way back when or am I remembering wrong?
Because if I've been waiting all this time just for that to be the big secret? That's bullshit. :serious:

Agreed. When the fuck has Mephisto been a huge thorn in Peter's side? I mean... SERIOUSLY. That'd be like her saying "Hey, make sure Galactus doesn't fuck with Peter."

Secret Avengers. Meh, pretty disappointing for the most part so far. I'm not big into Nova, 'nor am I big into space stuff. I'll stick it out to see what the next arc is like because I REALLY like a lot of the chars on this team, but... geez.

Disagree with you there. I'll agree that the first two issue were meh but, issue #3 really sold me on this book. I love the fact that this book seems to be involved with big and wacky ideas. Deodato's art is also amazing. His art fits perfectly with the over the top feel the book is going for.

Onto something else. Shadowland, so far, has been complete garbage. So far most of the characters and plot points seem way beyond force (shoe horning Bullseye in is the most blatant). Only reason I'm sticking around with it is due to the fact the a couple of my favorite characters are in it (Iron Fist, Moon Knight). Anyone else think this is gonna be Marvel's equivalent of Amazons Attack?

It doesn't seem to quite mesh with Brubaker's storytelling though. Most of the Brubaker books I've read usually feel a little Noir and dark in terms of art, and even here in a book that's technically a "covert ops" team it could use a little stylization. My main problem with Deodato though is that EVERYTHING is shadowed, like... intense shadows (which may make sense for a spy book but for some reason it rubs me the wrong way here.) I think if he stepped away from excessive use of shadows it would look a lot better.

Is it not a spy/espionage book though? The whole point of the "Secret" Avengers, is to do off the record things that the main Avenger teams can't be seen doing. Add that to the fact that almost everyone of the characters has some sort of spy/military background, and it would seem to me like you have a spy book. If anything Deodato and Brubaker will start to mesh far better as this series progresses. For me, issue #3 was a huge leap in quality.

I know, I'm just saying just because it's a spy book doesn't mean he has to keep the same style he used in Dark Avengers. It worked in Dark Avengers, but in Secret Avengers it's not doing anything for me. I'll give it some more time, but sometimes it just seems like he's taking odd angle choices and points of view in his artwork.

I agree with you there, as sometimes his layouts are annoying.

The Morrison Batman stuff isn't bad. Thankfully they're not charging 3.99 for it.

Sorry but I gave him enough tries to win me over and every time I just didn't like it. And its not like I've had writers I've previously hated win me over because Bendis and JMS have both had me change my opinions of them in the past year.

I just mean, while not essential, it's not as dumb as it sounded to have an RIP filler story a year later. It actually works somehow. With that being said, Morrison isn't leaving Batman anytime soon from what he said at comiccon, so expect to be loathing Batman a little longer.

The only reason I'm getting some of this stuff is so I can sort of be on board with Bruce Wayne's return. Which by the way, is some really good stuff, if only for the self-contained stories. The overall arching theme is still confusing.

He's leaving the main Batman and Batman and Robin books in November but is moving on to Batman Inc. which to me seems like a fair trade off. Peter Tomasi and Pattrick Gleason take over as the creative team on Batman and Robin in November as well.

Why is OMIT so damn convoluted? Here's basically what happened for those not following:

Pt. 1
- Mary Jane makes a deal with Mephisto and whispers to him to "Leave Spidey Alone! Forever!"
- Fat guy was caught by Spidey.
- Fat guy was released by Mephisto... or the Falcon's animal sidekick, one or the other.
- Fat guy fell on Spidey and made him miss the wedding.

Pt. 2

- Mary Jane thought he had cold feet, but after he tried to explain it to her, she told him and Spider-Man to fly a kite, he couldn't be Spidey and marry her.
- They got back together but didn't marry.
- Spidey STILL revealed his identity during Civil War, Aunt May STILL got shot, but "magically" recovered thanks to the deal.

Pt. 3
- Fat guy tried to kill Mary Jane and her Aunt, but Spidey busted him again.
- Spidey goes to Dr. Strange to wipe his identity from people's memories.
- Dr. Strange astral planes to talk to Stark & Richards about fixing this somehow.

So, here's where I'm like "Wha?" In my version of OMIT it would make WAY more sense to do the following:

- Pt. 1 & 2 still happen mostly
- Spidey DOESN'T reveal his identity during Civil War for one reason or another, perhaps relating to the fat guy, and therefore Aunt May doesn't get shot.
- Move forward from there.

The only issue there is that they establish that the Fantastic Four and other people who SHOULD know don't know his identity, so... so much for that. But, still, it just seems convoluted how they're trying to explain this.

So.... how about The Punisher seems to be getting CANCELED after they turn him back into a human? From what I gathered from the solicits after he becomes a human they're giving Rick Remender a 5 issue limited series called "Blood Ties" which will cost the obligatory 3.99 each.

What a fucking mess this shit is. Also, Daredevil is ending around that time too, which once again ties into my crazy conspiracy theory that The Punisher is going to be the new Man Without Fear.
