Ya, and he knew it too that's why he took off so quickly after the fight. I think he was stunned by another hit thought first and the jab just finally brought him down.

My buddy and I were talking and we think the only person to give Anderson Silva a truely good fight is GSP. Both just dominate each other's weight classes and both could be considered the best current UFC fighters. Don't be surprised if GSP puts on some weight and there's a huge title fight down the road.

Silva still has a rematch with Henderson but, im thinking he's permanently staying in the light heavy division. well he's gonna retire next year and has 3 more fights making GSP a possibility if he can pack in that much weight. I wonder if he's game to fight Roy Jones Jr. though he said that after MMA he's gonna try boxing again lol.

Man seeing Forrest like that was really hard, he's been in a slump since the Evans lost. And damn I remember people reporting that he got a dislocated jaw that's why he rushed out...but it was just an excuse. I doubt we'd see him for a while.

Forrest is one of my favorite fighters and I was very sad to see the fight go down like that. I agree with you, we probably won't see him for a while which is sad.

I think GSP can pack on the pounds to fight Silva. Have you seen how the guy trains? It's insane! If they did fight it probably wouldn't be for another year... let both of them get some more wins under their belts.

I totally forgot that Roy Jones Jr. is fighting MMA now... Haven't seen or heard too much about it though.

Not sure how many MMA fans are out there, but thought I would engage some discussion on the heels of UFC 101.

So how do you think is the best pound for pound champ in the UFC? I think it's a tough call right now between Anderson Silva and GSP. Both are just destroying anyone who fights them in their weight classes (with Silva coming off a huge first round KO win against Forrest Griffen... one of my favorite fighters). Watch GSP put on some weight and challange Silva... which would be the greatest super fight the UFC has ever seen!

Who else out there thinks Brock Lesnar is a total joke as a fighter? He's a monster, yes, but as soon as a more technical fighter challenges him that can match him power wise he's going down. With Randy Couture coming back (again) I wouldn't be surprised if he gets revenge on Brock down the road. Sure, Couture is 40+ and got caught by Lesnar the last time they faught, but if he can bring Brock to the ground he won't have a chance... and I say I pray that day comes!

DISCUSS!

As many of you know, I'm a wrestling fanatic... I have recently got into UFC a lil bit and there's some good things there...

GSP is a beast and I do think that him vs Silva would probably be the greatest match ever... I didn't get to see 101 but 100 was highly impressive...

As far as Brock goes, I agree and disagree with you... You're right about what could take him down... Tech and Power... Save maybe Couture, who can do it??? I wouldn't necessarily call him a joke per-say... He lacks style and technique... He's a smash mouth fighter... that's how he's been... and I do like the attitude he's always had... shaking things up in ufc gets more ratings... ^_^

Roy Jones is in MMA now??? I wanna see this... ^_^

Lesnar gets a lot of shit from MMA's internet fanbase while at the same time getting his dick sucked by the rasslin' internet fanbase. Anybody who has really followed Vale Tudo and what was formerly known as NHB fighting has seen him before in the form of Mark Coleman and Kevin Randleman and Mark Kerr. He's a world class wrestler, like those two, with size and strength comparable to them at their prime, only moreso. The discussion the promoters want the fans to have is "Who can beat Lesnar?" But it could go down one of several ways:

1. Lesnar gets promoted in such a way that he fights guys who match up poorly with him and remains champion for years

2. Lesnar gets promoted in such a way that he fights guys who match up poorly with him and he still loses a few by giving up sloppy submissions like Coleman and Randleman and anybody who ever trained under Coleman and Randleman (Fedor exposes guys like this)

3. Lesnar fights a decent stand-up fighter with a solid takedown defense and gets completely exposed on the feet (Fedor/Aleksander expose guys like this)

4. Lesnar manages to beat everybody including strikers, never gets exposed on the feet, and tests positive for steroids exactly like Josh Barnett and eventually fights Fedor or Aleksander Emelianenko when they're all a decade past their prime in some smaller promotion and it's anybody's guess who will win because any weird injury could occur out of nowhere

So we'll see what happens.

EDIT: THAT'S MY GIRL!!! FUCKED HER UP!!!

EDIT 2: So I take it nobody else watched Strikeforce.

EDIT 3: And with that, everybody else in this thread died of AIDS.

8-month thread revival and triple post to see any of your opinions on the last UFC. I'll save my comments for later.

Mods, go ahead and put this thread out of its misery if nobody here cares about martial arts or fighting.

I forgot this thread even existed.

as for UFC 112 the main cards were alright, never thought matt hughes would get the win, dos Anjos' armbar over Etim was beautiful, Munoz still has it and I FUCKING KNEW EDGAR WOULD BEAT THE PRODIGY!

as for the main event, It disappointed me, I thought Maia was coming in it strong but the dude was confused and scared during the latter half. Silva fuckin irritated me, he was all mother fucker then he just lost it he must've gotten tired with all that showboating. Again if Maia went apeshit in the 5th he would've gotten the win.

Silva gots nothing on GSP tho.

I more excited about next month now, Lyoto Machida vs Shogun Rua 2 :D

For anybody who doesn't know the ugly backstage politics and cutthroat nature of the fight game, I'll break it down a little bit. Silva's "antics" had nothing to do with Maia, nothing to do with being "bored" and absolutely nothing to do with selling tickets to fight GSP.

Here's what the message wasn't: "I'm bored with my competition!"

Here's what the message was: "Hey Whitey, Fertittas, whoever else wearing a suit, PAY ME WHAT I'M WORTH. I'VE GOT A FIGHT LEFT ON MY CONTRACT AND IF YOU DON'T PAY UP I'LL GO INTO BOXING AND MAKE TEN TIMES WHAT I'M MAKING AND WALK WITH THE BELT AND MAKE THE WHOLE SPORT LOOK REALLY, REALLY BAD."

I'd love to see GSP move up to fight him, but I'd still pick Silva to win decisively. GSP's stand-up is suspect at best, as seen vs Serra, and Silva held his own grappling against an olympic-caliber wrestler in Henderson (who the UFC also cheaped out on). Instead, expect a whole lot of funny business no matter who he fights next.

Dana Whitey. That balding baldy has never had any trouble putting together two guys who don't belong anywhere near a main event while criticizing Fedor as being overrated. By the way, I'd put virtually every fighter on M1 Global's roster over either of those two.

Last night impresed the hell out of me, despite supposedly poor ratings and constant criticism. I personally love Strikeforce and its fighters. Cesar Gracie's campe never ceases to amaze me, and even though I'm a big Mousasi fan, I'm also just as big a fan of King Mo, if for no other reason than his Dream entrances.

Anybody gonna get the new UFC 2010 game? As much as I liked the first one, I really don't like games that come out year after year like this. Why not just release a roster update and then charge for it?

I like to wait until I can find games with yearly updates in these magical places called bargain bins. Nearly identical graphics, gameplay, etc year after year, and the price drops from $40-ish to $2, or 3 for $4. I probably won't buy it anyway, since I hate:

- The way UFC promotes its fights
- The inane commentary
- The wrestler-friendly rules
- The quick stoppages that manipulate the knockout statistics
- Joe Rogan, Whitey, Vegas slimeballs, etc

As for cheaping out, that's exactly what UFC is doing. With a lot of fighters. They lost Henderson, who destroyed the heavily-hyped Bisping, and then subsequently lost to the underrated Shields. I'm looking forward to Rogers vs Overeem, since both are guys who could do very well in the UFC (and in Overeem's case, dominate), and Overeem's roids could lead to skull-crushing wins.

I'd like to see Velasquez fight Lesnar sometime this decade.

While I'm at it, I'd like to see a lot more co-promotion.

We'll see that fight this year if something happens to Carwin before July.

I still can't believe the UFC didn't renew Roger Huerta's contract.

that loss to Kenny Florian and Gray Maynard took a toll on his UFC career...I can understand Maynard dude is the only one to give Frankie Edgar a loss. Florian was weak before he decide to be a grappler instead of a brawler IMO now he wins most of his fights with a rear naked choke O_O.
