Just a quick note to people that have the game: Please put any spoilers, large or minor in the spoiler tags. Even the tiniest detail might ruin something for someone else, so when in doubt, spoil tag it. I know most people here know this already, but I thought it would be a good idea to remind people.

I am LOVING this game right now, it is such a huge improvement over the first, the only thing right now I am kind of iffy on is scanning planets, either I am not doing it right or missing something but to scan an entire planet takes a L O N G time, like 10+ minutes per, which seems kinda wonky but maybe its the wya they intended it.

cant wait to sink my teeth into this some more.

really? how so? I had no problem at all importing my character from ME1, either of them infact, the one from my playthrough a few weeks ago and the one from 2 years ago both went off with out a hitch.

I have beaten ME1 and have my game saved while I was playing again during New Game+. I erased my old saves (right before Saren) because I am a nazi about conserving space. So now I can't play as the character that I spent all that time on.

Well, it depends on where you deleted it from. If you deleted saves from the game menu, there shouldn't be a problem, since the save it checks is a hidden one with all of the data that can only be accessed from system settings. Unless you were mucking about in that, there shouldn't be any problems, and either a save is corrupted or I suppose it's possible you have a messed up copy, although I'd doubt the latter.

yea from what I understand the save it goes from is one that you can not delete unless you totally delete ME from your storage device , that being said, I have also read that if your game save is not on the original storage device ( different memmory card or hard drive ) and you moved it to a new one, people are having problems getting their character to load, might want to look into that if it applies to you.

Saw this today (linked from Penny Arcade) and it should interest anyone considering switching from the 360 to the PC:

I'm fighting the urge to run out and get it... Not that I don't want it, just that I have a huge list of games to play/on pre order. End of December I traded in a ton of games I never play anymore in order to pre order games like Bioshock 2, God of War III, Grand Torismo 5 etc. and had a ton of credit left over so I picked up Darksiders and Bayonetta. Haven't touched Bayonetta yet but playing through Darksiders and dear god am I regretting that purchase. It was fun for the first few hours but does it ever get boring fast... like REALLY boring and annoying... I'm on the last Dungeon (the tower) and I honestly am debating just giving up because it's become a chore to play now. I got so bored with it I picked up Mass Effect (picked up used at Best Buy for $5) and raped that game in a week. Had such the urge to just give up on Darksiders and just trade it back in and get Mass Effect 2 but in a week and a half Bioshock 2 comes out... ugh! Not enough time to play all these games!

bioshock 2 will be a pretty quick play through IMO.

I would highly recommend mass effect 2, but if you dont have a lot of time to invest in it might be worth while to wait, to put it in perspective the average ME 1 play through took me 12 - 16 hours, right now I am at the 16 hour mark in ME 2 and just switched to disc 2 which contains about 20 hours of gameplay before you ( supposedly ) switch back to disc one for the end game.

this game has sucked me in and I do not want to put it down, the action is so much more refined, the soldier class is so much more enjoyable then the first game, and the characters are all deep and nuanced , for instance I absolutely love Jack, I thought I would hate her, but as I put in more time, I am really digging her and I cant wait to see what plays out with her, this also applies to every single other crew mate.

if there is one complaint its that scanning planets is kind of a drag, at first its like oh look a fun little mini game, then after 3 or 4 planets its like oh another minigame, after 50 planets you'll want to stab anyone you ever hear say "probe launched" or "probe away" again.

oh and it seems they fixed auto save, I am still the type to save my game manually every few minutes, but as far as I can tell it saves before most firefights , when you open certain doors, hack data pads etc, auto saves pretty frequently, even being a manual saver id say 7 / 10 times when I die and or have to reload its reloaded from an auto save file.

It took you 12-16 hours to beat the first one? For me it was well over 20.

The first ME took me 15-20 hours to beat... and that was within a week. Helps that I was quite sick and had nothing else to do but I freakin loved it. That I guess was the one good thing to take out of Darksiders, it reminded me what a truely enjoyable an engrossing game can be (Mass Effect) compared to the blandness a lot of main stream games that seem to get pumped out (Darksiders). Well I have a feeling I'll bite the bullet, try to beat Darksiders before the weekend and trade it for ME2. I have a feeling it will be my Fallout 3 for 2010 (as in I was playing it constantly for almost a year and loving every second).

I'm of the opinion that as soon as a game stops being fun, it's not worth playing. If you would rather be playing ME 2, I say you should just get ME 2.

I'm going to either tomorrow or Saturday. The only thing is I'm so close to finishing Darksiders that I might as well tough it out until the end. Then again, the final dungeon has been a real chore (the developers even said the development for the final tower was rushed and ultimately... terrible) so if I have to put the game down one more time that'll be it and I'll just get Mass Effect.

BTW, just in case you didn't know DON'T get Darksiders! Such potential, but ultimately very bland.

the first ME never took me that long, my first play through was 13ish hours on easy skipping over a lot of stuff, a few weeks ago and I went back and played through on normal doing most of the side quests and talking to people but not doing a ton of exploring and it took me about 18 hours. I didnt feel the need to sink my teeth into the first ME as thoroughly even though its one of my favorite games.

also, just a word of warning for Mr. Black, some of the role playing elements are pared down, building your character when you level up there are only like 5 or 6 base choices to put your points into, and there isnt nearly as much gear, in fact theres hardly any actual weapons or armor you will find at all, there is some, but most of your gear upgrading is done through finding schematics and upgrading existing weapons and gear, and changing your weapons / armor is all done on the normandy between levels , it was a bit surprising but after a few hours I think it works really well.

the game sounds a lot better and more fun than ME1. thank god the leveling bullshit is downplayed, way too many options for me in ME1. most of them seemed pretty useless too. plus you had to level up weapons types you don't use to get to level up weapon types you do use and that was bullshit.

i already have too much to play but i might download this, it's actually sounding pretty good

It's probably going to be my best game of 2010.
