I don't think Sega or Sonic Team care how they make their money these days, they'd probably rather people dump loose change on their heads, so that they wouldn't have to bother make another game.

I just wish Sega would listen to what the fans want rather than using another gimmick.
What they need to do is take it back to where Sonic 3 & Knuckles ended and have the story continue from there, revert back to calling "Eggman" Dr. Robotnik, a cut out all the characters except Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, maybe include Amy (from Sonic CD, not the new one) in the background.

Nintendo would definitely know how to handle the Sonic franchise, I thought they did a great job on him in Brawl. I just find it funny how a gimmicky game like Mario & Sonic at the olympics which sold a lot of units according to Nintendo's conference at E3 is immediately getting a sequel just to cash in. Like you said, at least it doesn't have a story.

I feel that Sonic Team have done everything they can think of to keep the blue hedgehog alive. Going so far as to give him a sword, having change into a 'Werehog', and being a playable character in Super Smash Bothers Brawl. I think that they don't remember (or don't really care for) what the Sonic games where all about: speed. Now they throw him into 3D environments, most of the games mediocre at best. After releasing terrible game after terrible game, is there really a reason for Sonic to still exist? Can't Sonic Team see? Sonic is Dead! Done! Over with! And, as sad as it may be, no amount of creativity will bring him back. Let him rest in peace.

Sonic is only dead BECAUSE they gave him a sword and changed him into a werehog and the other unspeakable things they did to him. Check out Sonic Adventure or even Sonic Adventure 2 for the dreamcast. Those are 3D sonic games that DO NOT SUCK. In fact, they are pretty damn cool.

In my opinion Sonic still isn't dead, he could still come back. In fact, if the GODDAMN IDIOTS who thought that turning Sonic into a 'werehog' and making him SLOW was a good idea (FOR FUCKS SAKE, why a 'werehog'? Why not just make a 3D sonic and knuckles... that would've actually WORKED) would've been on vacation and we'd only have gotten the DAYTIME levels 'unleashed' would have been a great game!

So, I still have hope. If only someone at Sonic team would realize that the CREATIVITY is what's killing Sonic...
