Issue #12: St. Patrick's in July
http://www.thegamevillains.com/podcast/issue12.mp3

On a very special issue of YIBR, Beeslo and Link address Mongo's drinking problem and how it effects the podcast. Additionally, we talk about all things Green Lantern so that you can jump straight into the Blackest Night crossover event with ease.

DISCLAIMER: Any audio issues/complaints can solely be blamed on me this time around. I apologize if it's hard to hear, etc. but this is the absolute best we could output it as due to a goof up during the recording that dwarfed my voice in comparison to theirs. Additionally, upon boosting my voice to a higher level, I added weird static/pop noises that occasionally ocurred while Mongo/Beeslo were talking.

Please forgive us and keep listening. It can only get better! :D

Hey a new intro!

Yeah iron man animated was little half ass, but you guys have seen Hulk vs., right? (Sure, not much story, but come on, they were awesome)

Commercial breaks now also? You sure are upgrading quickly.

Green Latern's color issues sound... absurd.
Is there any good one-shoot issue or mini-series one can pickup without having to have to much knowledge? (Blackest Night sounds little massive.)

Poor drunk Mongo & dull Link, always getting slammed.

Well, we figured it'd be best to plug the show and what site you can listen to it on, just in case folks find us through Facebook or other means.

Not sure what made me download this podcast. Let me explain. I have a limited interest in comics and anime, meaning I've enjoyed both on an extremely casual basis. I could not hold a conversation about either, other than to say Berserk was brilliant and I was a zombie for Gambit in the mid-90s. Also, I have a tough time listening to audio podcasts.

So I'm not sure what made me finally download this YIBR, but I'm glad I did.

I really enjoyed the conversations. Even with a subject as foreign to me as the Green Lantern, I was thoroughly entertained. It would be odd for me to say a group of guys has good chemistry together, so I'm not going to do it.

And I wouldn't tickle your balls for the hell of it, so great show, guys. I'm looking forward to the next one. Just sorry to say I can't contribute much here in the YIBR forum after-parties.

Oh, hey, that's not a problem at all. We cover a WIDE variety of stuff and our overall goal is to essentially "clue in the clueless". If you're a hardcore Otaku or Comic Nerd, awesome. If not, that's even better, because to a certain degree that's our target audience. If Average Joe can enjoy our podcast, even if they're not 100% interested in what we're discussing, that really means we're achieving one of our goals. :D

Glad to have you aboard meister, don't be afraid to look through the archive threads, you'll be surprised by what you might find. :rabbid:

First time I caught the show and you guys did a really good job with it.

I too really got into Green Lantern recently because they were promoting the hell of of Green Lantern and Darkest Night when I was at Comicon. I was lucky enough to pick up each of the Hal Jordan varients (Green, Yellow, Orange, Blue and Red) and bought every book I needed to fill in the large gaps I had in Green Lantern from 1 to Sinestro Corps Wars to Blackest Night.

A large chunk of the DC Nation panel was dedicated to Blackest Night and who fans would like to see come back and who they're glad are Black Lantern.
Spoiler
Popular choices were: Ted Cord, Aquaman, Maxwell Lord, the original Question, and Billy Mays(it got a laugh from Greg Rucka)

And not to try and correct you guys but when asked about "killing Batman" in DC DiDio they all instantly backpeddled and said "no we asked you guys how would you react if Bruce Wayne was no longer Batman" so my guess is that skull Black Hand ISN'T Bruce Wayne's particularly and he really is roaming in caves somewhere.

Only other note worthy thing was Didio made mention of running into a fan who was dressing up as a Black Lantern Steve Rogers which got a kick out of the crowd; and I ran into the dude the following day

That Black Lantern Cap made me laugh. Good to know that we got a Jersey listener. Where in Jersey exactly?

Honestly...you know about as much of Green Latern than I do. Hence why the first issue of Blackest night and those two other GL issues we mentioned are so paramount. They do a stellar job introducing new comers to the world of Green Latern. Pick them up!!!

Green Lantern, in terms of "getting into it", if you don't want to jump into Blackest Night already...

You can read Rebirth, or you can jump right into Green Lantern Corps: Recharge or Green Lantern #1: No Fear (these are all trade paperbacks.)

TPBs are a lot easier to get up here (or everywhere I guess), but you're good word on Blackest has me intrigued. I'm thinking of the #43 route as you mentioned, but thanks Link for the tip, is what that I was kinda asking for before.

"Sinestro Corps War" was based on concepts introduced by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill in the short story Tygers, published in Tales of the Green Lantern Corps Annual #2 (1986). Writers Geoff Johns and Dave Gibbons incorporated several ideas from Moore's stories into "Sinestro Corps War", including the prophecy of the Blackest Night, Sodam Yat, Ranx the Sentient City and the Children of the White Lobe. Leezle Pon, a minor character only mentioned once in Moore's "Mogo Doesn't Socialize" story from 25 years previous, also makes an appearance in Green Lantern #25.

^^^ What the fuck I was talking about.
