Tom,
To tell you the truth, the controller wasn't the big problem I had with the Gamecube.
Now, I owned a Gamecube (aswell as all other nintendo mainstay consoles...Gba, nintendo, SNES, etc), aswell as the Playstation from tip to tale (ps1 - 3). The only console which collected dust after a year of playing was my Gamecube. The issue I had with it was the style of games which I rented/bought. The games, to me, were far too child oriented. They were fun pick-up-and-play games for what they were worth, in a time when every other game from playstation/xbox had to be epic...but to me the style of games were a step back from the maturity of the Playtation, xbox or even the N64 titles. I think the issue is, as the AVGN once commented on, that I relate what is 'cool' to be what is mature and I feel the games were not for a mature audience. This is probably the reason that Nintendo made the system so 'indestructable'...to handle young children beating the crap out of them.
Some games may have been great, but the ones that I recall renting (such as windwaker) fell far short of what I was looking for (in light of Orcina of time in the case of Zelda), and I honestly felt immature for renting them when I did.
I also disagree that the Wii is inferior to the Gamecube. The Wii, to me, is simply unrealised due to the majority of 3rd party developers that fail to truely ascertain the potential of motion control properly. They treat motion control like most movies treat 3d...only an aspect of the movie to blatently showcase the novelty, rather than enhance the movie. Same idea for most Wii titles I have played. However; Some games are real gold, especially when playing with younger players (neices, nefew's, etc), the G.F and/or when Nintendo develops the game. They too fall victim of not ascertaining the potential of motion control however. Ei: Mario Baseball.
And that's my two cents.
One last point though, the website looks good. I don't mind it. But please make sure that it stay's less complicated and quicker than your competitor sites. I have a real problem with the new Screwattack page due to how it functions (trying to do too much, over complecation and massive lag), and will rarely even look on the page due to this. Less in this case is much more. Thanks
