Well there's a NHL thread, a MLB thread... So i wanted to make the official NFL Talk thread... because as much as i like the other two... I LOVE NFL... So with out further ado...

How do you think your teams will do this year??

Personally... Watch out for my Panthers... with 21 outta 22 starters returning from a 12-4 team...

I would totally be down for some TGH fantasy league action. I've never fantasized before, in this fashion at least, and I think my NFL fandom has reached the point where fantasy football is appropriate. The Panthers do look nice, but don't rule out America's Team. The Cowboys are going to be much better than most people anticipate.

I'm down for fantasy football. Haven't done that for a while because i know no one who plays fantasy.

By the way, Dolphins win the Super Bowl.

Oh Mr. Classy Man just wait until week 3... (the first monday night game the cowgirls have their new stadium is against the future super bowl champions... the Carolina Panthers... oh fanboy doesn't beging to describe what i am for my panthers :psycho: )

But if i can get between 8 and 12 people... (well im one so 7 to 11 more) to get in on this im doing it... if anyone want to throw money down i think ESPN does a good transfer money and the winner gets a check type deal...

again as of right now its me, jared, and goose... so 5 to 9 more to go...

I wanna play standard rules... ima fan of PPR... a point per reception (reason being if some like Brandon Marshall catches 20 balls but only gets 18 yards for whatever reason... he only get 1 point in fantasy... yet 20 catches is an impressive thing... with a point per recition 20 catches and 18 yards would be 21 points... i will never do points per carry because catching a ball and getting a ball handed to you are two different traits and catching is more impressive than grabbing a running play...)

Basically how i do it is say LT has this kinda game: 85 yard rushing, 1 rushing TD, 5 rections for 37 yards and a TD, and one passing TD for 14 yards... (8 points for the rushing, 6 for the rushing TD, 5 for the catches, 3 for the catching yards, 6 for the the TD, 4 for the passing TD so thats... 34 points that week... get it??)

I would definitely be interested in doing something, so count me in. I guess my preference would be doing it on Yahoo or something.

Oh, and as for your first question, I will be ecstatic if the Broncos make it to six wins this year. :brood:

Edit: I'm not a big fan of PPR, but if everyone else wants it, I guess I'd be willing to go with it.

My condolences on being a Broncos fan... your owner basically said you know what... we don't wanna win for a few seasons... Cutler... now Marshall... you have no real QB... no real RB... your best WR wants out... a joke of an OL... and a D with more holes than swiss cheese... and dont get me started on your coach... Dude im sorry...

I ususally use ESPN... it has a ton of free features that other sites don't (live score updates, scouting reports through out the week, expert untradable players)... so thats what i wanna use...

does anyone wanna put money on this or just for fun... i think ESPN has a way you can pay online and when you win they mail you a check... but ill look into it...

ESPN is fine too, and I'd rather not put any money in on this, I think people would find it more fun (especially since some probably will be doing this for their first time) to just have it be for fun.

Few observations on the upcoming season:

- Farve, please stay out. I love ya, but no more football for you, rest easy soldier.

- The Lions will win this year. I'd say 6-10 is respectable.

- Mark Sanchez will make a splash...in a pool of his own blood after the Dolphins murder him.

- Tom Brady will be back in true form...only to get beat down by the Dolphins.

- Terrell Owens.....murdered by the Dolphins.

- The Steelers WON'T repeat. Playoffs, no repeat.

- The Cardinals will miss the playoffs. Anquan Boldin will be gone by the trade deadline.

- The AFC South will be the most competitive division this year. All four teams are poised to win the division, no clear cut favorite IMO.

I was talking to someone recently and they said that the NFL is going to start putting advertisements on the team practice jerseys. However, I haven't been able to confirm or deny this. Can someone fill me on on it? Sorry I've been out of the country for several weeks.

I guess you'd call me a casual football fan or a casual sports fan in general but I'd totally be down for some TGH fantasy league action.

Hoping the Eagles take it this year!

Because it isn't hypocritical or anything to have that reaction after predicting that multiple people will be murdered by your Dolphins :serious?:

I don't know if it means anything, but Yahoo now offers StatTracker for free.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Edit: Also, there's a report about Derrick Mason possibly retiring:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=a ... &type=lgns

I guess "jocklife.com" is a sufficient source. We'll most likely learn more in the next couple days.

Ya ESPN offers Stats, Scouting, Live Scoring and tons of other bells and whistles...

Ya Derrick Mason retiring a sad day for real football fans... He was a mans man of WRs... unheralded and just went out there and did work... and i've always loved him for that... broke his arm... and still went out there and made NASTY one armed catches... mmm so good so good

Now maybe he isn't retiring? I don't know anymore. I'm seeing a whole bunch of stuff out there.

Yup.. basically... all the "experts" say we will be third in the NFC South... but how we played last year and that we have 21 of 22 starters coming back (and peppers saying we is ready to make a long term deal and stay in NC)... we shall see...
