Heard about this on AHWU. Kudos to them. Anything possibly bad about this? Should this have happened a while ago? Discuss.

I've heard it's subject to invididual states to implement. Any truth to this?

So does this mean alot of the violent games that get banned in Australia (like Mortal Kombat) will make it over there now?

I don't know if any of the old games will be released, but I have a feeling they won't. At least they get new releases. I wonder if any companies will release big titles from the past to Australia because they missed them...

New South Wales was the only state that objected to it, but not entirely, the governor general is still open to it later on, and he can't completely block it, it will still go ahead next year. As for games like Mortal Kombat and an uncensored version of Left 4 Dead 2 coming to Australian stores I'm not entirely sure. Hell most Australian gamers probably just import the games anyway through playasia or somewhere else, never really had issues with importing anyway.

The more frustrating issue is still how stupidly overpriced Australian games are, our dollar is higher than the US but we pay twice as much for our games, say when Arkham City comes out, it'll probably cost $120 at EB Games, but at another retail chain they'll sell it for the more "fair" price of $80 which is pretty good, but then there's the independent retail stores I go to and I can get it for $60 new there, it's ridiculous the inconsistency in our pricing here

unfortunately this seems to be a problem in europe as well

even digital distributors like steam charge some games for more money in europe then in america
