Hockey Day in Canada eh? We just had Hockey Day Minnesota last Saturday, 3 high school games, 1 college and the Wild played Anaheim. I'm so freakin' stoked that hockey is making a comeback, as far as tv and mainstream media goes, even though they took the North Stars from us hockey never left Minnesota.

McTavish just hates Boogaard, it seems like every time we play them, McTavish spends the whole game jawing at Boogaard. I think it's hilarious because Boogaard just grins at him and purposely skates by the bench between whistles. XD

Isn't everyone afraid of the Boogeyman? God damn that guy is a monster!

I have no plans for Hockey Day cause pretty much everyday is hockey day for me. I watch games pretty much every night online but of course Hockey Day is an even better reason to get together with friends and have a few drinks. Who are the Canucks playing this year? Hopefully someone we can beat which isn't many teams if any at the moment.

The Canucks are playing the Leafs, and everyone is hyping up the return of Sundin. For the love of god I hope you beat them. Sens need to make some major ground in order to make the playoffs this year.

Oh it is hockey day when that meeting occurs. Well we spanked them in Vancouver once this year so lets do it all over in Toronto.

In fact I think we have won the last couple of meetings vs the Leafs. We didn't play the previous season but before that I know there was one game where we got 3 goals in the 3rd against them. The only reason I remember this is cause I showed up at a pub for the 3rd. Everyone got ballots to win pub gift certificates every time the nucks scored. Sat there for 45 mins for the last period and my table of 3 won twice. Woo hoo. Free beer!

In summary, down with the Leafs!

I'll say Toronto for the win, just because I hate Vancouver. XD But really Vancouver is sucking right now, but they shouldn't be, they got an amazing line up. I'm just hoping the Wild can find some consistency.

At first I was like 'Why does he hate Vancouver, is he from Toronto?', but now I see you are from Minny. Feeling is mutual buddy :verymad:

Actually I used to despise the Wild of old which was talentless and trappy. What are you gonna do with Lemaire behind the bench but at least the team has gotten a little more exciting on the ice. I have Antti Miettinen in my hockey pool and he has been doing decent this year. Sucks that Gabby is done for the season but it sure sounds like he wants the hell out of Minny. I don't really blame him. Anyone with solid offensive skills would probably be up in arms over Lemaire's philosophy of how a game should be played.

Gabby must be becoming quite the simulation F1 driver in his off time this year. If you haven't seen he has an amazing F1 simulator in his house.

Yeah, they've done a couple of Gaborik features over the years, I think alot of Minnesota fans are pretty fed up with the Gaborik injury re occurance. he guy plays like 20-30 games a year, if that, and he's the highest paid player on our team (I think). I won't be sad to see him go, hopefully we get someone decent for him.

I can understand how you could get frustrated watching a Lemaire coached team, not a ton of offense, but we seem to be in the top three and usually number one penalty kill, least penalized team so far this year and other years past, plus we have Koivu (going to be even more amazing in a year or two) and Burns (One of the top young defenseman in the league).

I think most Minnesotans are stoked to have our team back, after having the North Stars being taken from us. Toronto is actually not a bad team though, now that I moved back to "Da Range" (iron range in Minnesota) I get CBC on my TV, so I've been watching alot more canadian hockey teams, double headers Saturday nights.

But hey, it's nice to hear from another enemy of the Canucks. :-D

You misunderstood my words. I am a Canucks fan, the mutual feeling was that I/we (canucks fans) hate the Wild. Oh and guess what we play tonight!

As much as people might pick on Lamaire for a boring style of hockey you can't argue with the results that he gets. Or the ability to take a team of less talented players and getting them to play a strict system like he did years ago with the young Wild.

But as much as I "hate" the wild they really impressed me last year in the playoffs. Koivu in particular. He really stepped up to the plate and has continued to do so this year.

Whoah, talk about a mis-read, now we are sworn enemies :verymad: . Oh and I believe we beat you guys in that game, hahahahahahaha! Vancouver is stacked enough with skill players though, you guys should have no problem making the play offs, especially with the Sedin twins.
Just for the record though, I think it is pretty frickin' annoying that every time Louongo touches the puck your fans all do the LOOOOOOUUUUUUU chant, it doesn't matter if he even makes an easy save or just taps the puck, every time it's LOOOOUUUUUUUUU! That is kind of LAAAAAME, at least wait till he makes an impressive save or does something other than play the puck for crap sake. But I digress, my fans go BOOOOOOOO quite a bit when Boogaard hits the ice, but not all the time though.

Speaking of Louongo, he's having a pretty rough come back, he'll get back into it though.

All you guys talking about the playoffs is making me a sad panda.... I've given up hope on my Sens this year making their 13th straight post-season appearance... it'll be interesting to watch what happens at this year's trade deadline for us. Might be a few well-known faces gone. So ya, go Oilers, Sharks and Blackhawks!

Well groin injuries are really hard to come back from, especially as a goalie. As long as Luongo gets back into form within the next month and the team plays well in front of him the Canucks will be fine.

Hmm, Heatley would look great in Ranger blue. Won't happen, though.

Hah. Nicely put. That and it seems that any Canuck fan in a visiting building must also chant LOUUUUU as well. Just one of those things.

And yes you did beat us on Saturday. We FINALLY won a friggin game last night vs the Canes. Blew a 2-0 lead but managed to get a shorthanded goal late in the 3rd to win it. Time to right the ship but is it too late? I say no but we are certainly on a short leash right now. Gotta go on a huge winning streak or something.

Whats up with the Sens and the Pens? God damn Pittsburgh is doing the shits this year.

Lulz, every night on the radio people come calling in saying how the twins suck and how we have no talent whatsoever. I guess other teams view us differently :-?

Dude, as a fellow fan of the Canucks I implore you NOT to listen to the radio call in shows. The typical fan that calls these is entirely reactionary and makes me cringe every time I hear it. There is no pleasing these assholes. While you are at it avoid The Province's sports section or at least take it with a grain of salt.

However, the twins have been brutal lately. I know they were on the ice but they were practically invisible last night vs the Canes.

Mark my words, besides Alfie and Elliott, NO ONE is safe on the Sens during the trade deadline. Murray pretty much said he's willing to trade anyone if the right deal came along. Heatly is our best trade bait, but I wouldn't be surprised if Spezza is gone. Heatly used to be more of a hard-nosed player before he started playing with Spezza, now all he does is sit in the slot and waits to be fed the puck... he's turned into a one-trick pony. Alfie won't go anywhere as he's the heart and soul of this team, and Elliott has too much upside to get rid of. The rest are up for grabs.... it'll be a VERY interesting lead up to the trade deadline here in Ottawa.

Any deal for Heatley would probably start with Staal, Dubinsky, or both. Instant deal breaker.

It's actually more of a cap issue. There's no way the Rangers could fit him in unless Ottawa took a big contract back. Drury has a NMC, Rozsival wouldn't clear enough space, and I'm sure you don't want Redden back. Unless Ottawa would take Gomez, a couple mid-level prospects, and a pick or two, it won't happen.

Wow. What a shellacking. If this doesn't get Cool Hand Luke behind the bench fired, nothing will.

I don't know about oher teams, but I know every time we play Vancouver, they always talk about the Sedin Twins cycling ability and how they just seem to know where to find each other. I personally really respect the twins and I live in Minnesota, they should be my sworn enemy. :-)

They certainly have that ability probably better than just about anyone in the league. However lately they just haven't been putting the puck in the net. It will come back. I love watching the Sedins pin a team in their defensive end but sometimes they just get too fancy or look for the perfect pass rather than putting the puck on net and generating a scoring opportunity.
