BTW, Wrestlemania IX being outside was awesome. I totally remember when I was a kid watching it and Bret lost to Yokozuna and then Hulk Hogan randomly gets an impromptu match on the spot to win the championship!

Oh, that made me so ANGRY! First of all, I didn't want Bret to lose the belt. They finally made a star out of the guy, and they have him drop the belt at the biggest show of they year. And then Hogan comes out and wins the belt from Stinko Tuna in approximately seven seconds after a match he wasn't even in.

Great. That's just great. We go from the Excellence of Execution to a guy whose entire repertoire consists of punch, body slam, and leg drop.

And then to make matters worse, the Hart/Hogan grudge match for the belt (which Bret would have won for sure) never happened, and we got Lex Luger chasing the belt instead. But that's a different rant entirely.

That was a terrible year for wrestling. Absolutely terrible.

Why were Bret Hart's WWF golden years wasted on fighting Jerry Lawler/Bob Backland?

The King was crap, no doubt.

I didn't mind Backlund so much. I thought he was a good rival for Bret. I'm sad that the feud kind of fizzled out as poorly as it did. I think they could have kept the belt on Backlund for a good long time, because people wanted to see him get slaughtered. That's the best kind of heel you can have. I don't understand why that didn't happen. Instead, they gave the belt to Diesel, and the worst twelve months of WWF began.

As far as Bret goes, we at least got a good series of matches from he and his brother. The Owen and Bret feud produced some of the best matches of the decade. Half the problem with WWF during that era is that they didn't have much of anyone for Bret to fight other than Owen, Shawn, and sometimes Mr. Perfect. All the good wrestlers were jumping over to WCW.

By the way, he could have totally put the Sharpshooter on Shawn last Monday, and I would have jumped out of my seat and cheered.

I'm with you on that. His feud with Owen was really good. Something I always wished had happened was Mr. Perfect getting a huge push. He is my favorite wrestler and deserved more than that. I will always remember his IC title runs. Pure awesome. It was bullshit when the fucking Texas Tornado came out of nowhere and stole his title. That son of a bitch!

We'd probably have like triple the viewership if we turned into a professional wrestling podcast.

If you got RD Reynolds and Blade Braxton to appear on your show, you'd have at least twelve more listeners.
