Article says he created Robotech. I never watched Robotech, but it's still a shame to hear about a person's death. May he forever rest in peace.
So, how do you guys feel about this?

HOLY SHIT! :(

Dude, this is terrible news. Granted, the guy butchered (although brilliantly butchered) 3 unrelated anime series to stream it into one continuity known as Robotech for a western audience. Some people hate him, but if it wasn't for him I probably wouldn't have gotten into Anime as early as I did.

Robotech was my very first anime series that I legitimately watched and KNEW it was anime, so this is a pretty big bummer for me.

Also, Carl Macek pretty much was not only a gateway for us to become better recognized with Anime (he helped localize the original Akira and Vampire Hunter D when it first came over here) but he also brought a lot of voice actors into the industry such as Tony Oliver who voiced the main character, Rick Hunter, in the Macross Saga of Robotech.

Tony Oliver also voiced Bang Shishigami in BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, but I'll forgive him.
The article also says Macek co-found Spumco with John K., and helped adapt Naruto and Bleach for the North American market.
