I've never read any of the expanded universe, so prior to the prequels I really liked (but never loved) Star Wars. I grew up in a household that wasn't into sci-fi in the slightest, so I only saw them back when WPIX (the WB channel before it became the WB channel) would marathon them back to back for the whole day on the weekends. I never got to see the theatrical re-release in the early/mid 90's, but I think the ones I watched were prior to the first round of touch ups like Luke screaming when he jumps down the shoot in Empire and Greedo shooting first.

Another thing that I remember being a big deal were tv specials about the first wave of "fixes" and addtions to the movies, particularly the new Jabba scene in A New Hope and I remember wondering why Jabba would let Han get away with that and not just have his guards kill him on the spot. The other problem to me seemed that it tried to add humor to an otherwise serious scene; and not even good humor but that of something that would get little kids to laugh.

Then the prequels came out and pretty much ruined my appreciation for the franchise, and with each release they just got worse and worse. Two of my biggest gripes about them that you guys didn't mention were:

1. In Attack of the Clones Anakin flat out tells Padma he just slaughtered a camp of Tuskan raiders, including defenseless women and children. Then in Revenge of the Sith when they tell her Anakin attacked the Jedi temple and killed the younglings (fucking stupid word) her reaction is "No my Anakin would never do that". I was in the theater and screamed "Are you fucking kidding me?!" when she said that.

2. Its all Qui-gon's fault. Everything that goes wrong in those 20 some odd years can all be blamed on him. First off they went on about the chosen one bringing balance to the force. If there're hundreds, if not thousands of Jedi and only two Sith what did they expect by the idea of balance? Yeah he evened the playing field all right, leaving only two living Jedi: Obi-Wan and Yoda. Had Qui-gon listened to Obi-won and left Anakin to live out the rest of his miserable life as a slave everyone would have been better off.

It should go without saying that the thing that hurts Star Wars the most as a franchise is Lucas himself. The only two movies he didn't write or direct are the best in the whole series (Empire and Jedi), and his fixation with touching them up is just sad.

As for you guys and your editing issue, I've always said whatever makes you guys more efficient should be what you go with. I know editing came be a pain in the ass, and honestly of all of the podcast/web series I've ever watched/listened to you guys seem to be the only audio only podcast that makes videos with changing and moving stills. I didn't notice it until you guys brought it up. So if you guys just want to have just the title card up without it moving, and maybe a still or video thrown in only when we really need the visual to go with what you guys are saying that's fine.

I swear, we get less and less people commenting on our shows as time goes on too, lol.

People are pretty busy during the holiday's so a low comment count is to be expected, at lead with this issue.

I don't have that excuse. I've just not had the time to write the wall of text I've been meaning to write.

My reason is that I have tried at three separate occasions tried to post, but my fucking browser and even computer have crashed. Losing walls of text, can really destroy your mood.

Writing it up in open office instead now with constant saving, although trying to remember everything I wanted to say takes some time.

I like to compare the StarWars prequels to DragonBall Z weras they both focused on a certain type of characters Dragon Ball being the Saiyans and StarWars being the Jedi. Creating some pretty bland characters where the only thing differentiating most of them is not their unique attributes and/or skills but their power level and their personification which is pretty much sucks (for star wars) in newest trilogy. That being said when I was little I freaking loved them, me at the time not seeing any difference in any of the old trilogy and the two new movies (this was before Episode 3) which makes me think it was pretty much geared towards kids to help the sell lightsabers.
XD XD

These "Star Wars" you speak of sound highly illogical.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Anyways, when I comes to this franchise, I have been a fan of yet not really a nerd for. When I was young I wasn't interested of it, really. Other then the typical "oh cool space'y stuff". Yet even that, like space battles I wasn't that interested of. It was actually Colonel Panic that got me more into the movies, explaining story & details and reenacting the space battles with Micro Machines. (note, we were 9-10 years old)

Becoming older and nerdier, with the video & computer games. My fondness for the universe did grow. Also my respect for the old movies, as they stand strongly as grand achievements of indie movie making, no one can take that from Lucas.
I have never seen any of the newer editions, which seems like it is for the best. However this also means I haven't seen the movies since the VHS era.

The new episode movies, watching them at cinema was as Beeslo kinda said, a lot of OHs & AHs moments. Yet after seeing them mostly forgettable and never cared for watching them again. Never even got the political plot and Emperor's scheming, until Colonel Panic explained it for me.

As for the characters, I don't really have any favorite from the movies. I have only one favorite from this universe. Who, no one asked?

This guy.

One thing I missed a little from your discussion, what are all yours favorite episode from original trilogy? Mine is Empire Strikes Back.

About editing, I'm all for you cutting down on editing. I mostly put y'all in background and listen. Only times I want picture is when you discuses art of panel or cover etc.
While on this topic, I noticed lately there have been some weird sound loops at last cut usually. Take for example most recent after bloopers. Is it a upload or edit error?

Audio Loops huh? Hmm... not sure on that.

As for favorite, I think Empire, although the first part of the VI was really good too. That being said, yeah I sort of swore off Star Wars and it's fandom all the way up until College when I played KOTOR, and even then it was sort of like "Oh, ok... cool game/universe." Then my ex made me watch them, and I enjoyed them, and it was good times, etc.

@Indomitus.
Kyle kicks ass! While he was still good later on, I preferred him in as just a bounty hunter back in Dark Forces. It kind of goes back to Link's Batman vs Superman analogy.

Man hearing that make me wish I was a kid again.

Favorite movie? Jedi. Sure, it doesn't have some of the Han and Leia moments that Empire did. But it has fuckin' Jabba the Hut. I love that guy. The more alien species the better Star Wars gets IMO, and Jedi has by far the most of them. The final climatic three part battle was also perfect IMO. The space battle being the best I've ever seen in any movie to date. The Empreror's dialogue... brilliant. Star Wars is probably one of few movies that has this enigmatic main villain that isn't ruined once he's revealed to the audience. Instead he gets even better. They did the same with Jabba. They built him up in the first two movies, finally revealing him in the third exceeding your expectations. In short, the villains steal the show in Jedi. Just the way I like it.

(wrote this on the podcast, BUT~)

The twins were named Jacen and Jaina (Their series is called “Young Jedi Knights” or something like that) and the youngest was named Anakin, and I’m pretty sure he goes to the dark side or Leia was worried he would.

Also, I usually just put it in the background and listen. :3
