Idea for CotU

I'm trying to figure out if there's something awesome we can do with this section instead of just "potpourri archive". Not to mention it could probably just be a Sticky and link to all the previous stuff. Sort of like the Circle Jerk thread was.

I was thinking maybe having a spotlight topic or two each month (one game and one show/movie/something) that we all (those interested in this concept) agree to play and/or check out that month. Then come back and discuss it.

This might help expose people to things they never knew existed, etc.

Sounds like a cool idea, as long as the game/show in question is widely available, or at least available enough so that there's not just two people discussing it in the end.

Agreed. I mean, most things can be got via... y'know "means" :pirate:

so if it's obscure enough or a tv series or movie that's not on Netflix we can probably do that. But, yeah, it'd be interesting to do.

is there like a obscurity limit tho? like what if we suddenly talk about banned movies and or banned games. I'm game with this idea, I like trying new shit out...thats why I love sashimi and soup numba five. We're like hipsters that way.

haha, well, I think if you go TOO obscure then... yeah, it'll be hard to have participants. It'd have to be on a general basis of agreement and common sense. If it's some PSX game that is out of print and copies cost 100 dollars on eBay... we probably won't do that unless it's available on PSN or Virtual Console or stuff like that.

Virtual Console games could be cool. Games like Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen and DoReMi Fantasy are obscure games that has gained a lot of praise from some video game sites, and are both available on the VC.

I also don't watch a lot of anime (well, none, really), but with something like this I would gladly watch a few episodes of something just to join in on the discussion. :-D

haha, sure, as long as it's doable and doesn't require purchasing or modifying equipment, etc.
