Shinigami - The Game Master. The Shinigami chooses who will be BB and L and Misora for a Volume and announces each day who dies and how they die when BB decides to kill someone for the day. The Shinigami also handles any action taken by players.
- All actions taken must be PM'd to the Shinigami.
- Directly asking the Shinigami for help will most likely result in the opposite result happening. Think of the Shinigami as Ryuk. It's the Shinigami's job to make things more interesting to his own discretion.
- All decisions in the game that are made by the Shinigami are made by a d20 dice roll. Several factors go into the percentage of success of these dice rolls.
---------------------------------------------------
Beyond Birthday - The secret killer. This person will eliminate the other players one by one. It's the goal of Beyond Birthday to continue murdering without their identity being revealed, if everyone is killed you win by default. They may stop murdering at any time they choose and start again whenever they wish. They can even choose to quit the game without announcing it to the others.
- BB is allowed to kill ONE person per day by PM'ing the murder to me, the Shinigami. I will announce the death, as to avoid revealing who is BB.
- BB is allowed to make a descriptive death (limited to the boundaries of what is actually humanly possible). This can possibly throw people off, or increase suspicion around you. Be careful how you commit your murders.
- BB is NOT allowed to reveal his identity to anyone else.
- Every kill he makes, BB may leave clues/puzzles to the people through the murder scene. BB must PM these clues/puzzles to the Shinigami.
- BB CAN quit the game after 5 kills if he believes that he's about to get caught. Remember, the goal is to keep yourself from being discovered by L, so quitting may just raise suspicions. Mix things up. TRY to think of something that will take suspicion off of you.
- If the game goes on for 31 days after BB quits and his identity is not revealed, BB will have won.
- In decisions made by popular vote, BB's vote does not count.
- Your chances to kill Naomi Misora (or at a later time L) change based on the amount of members in the investigative team (not including yourself.) The more members on the team, the greater your chances of failure are. A general %age number will be revealed once the game has started. You may not kill Naomi if the team has not lost any members. Failure to kill her puts you at great risk for having your identity revealed.
Copycat Killer - The other secret killer(s). This person's job is to throw the investigation team off track or just stir up some fun and mayhem.
- The Copycat Killer is NOT chosen by BB, it must be a volunteer from the Civilian or Investigation group. I will NOT announce that a copycat is murdering. You MUST PM the Shinigami if you are going to take on the role of a Copycat Killer. 5 Murders must be committed by BB before you can start copying.
- The copycats may be a Civilian or an Investigation Team member, the copycats will still have to follow the rules of their player class. If the copycat is an investigation members, they are STILL a required kill for BB to win the game.
- The copycats can only murder on a day that the original BB has decided not to kill someone (It should be noted that it works the same way in reverse: BB may not kill on the same day as the second BB. If you both decide to murder someone I will choose who murders based on a dice roll.)
- The copycat may not discuss his role with anyone. Any person caught saying that they are a copycat will be punished or jailed.
- The copycats may quit murdering at any time, however once they are found out they will be jailed based off the number of murders they have successfully committed.
- In decisions made by popular vote, copycat's vote does not count.
- Copycats that are recruited by the Investigative Team are not required to die for BB to win the game.
- Copycats CAN'T kill L or Naomi or BB.
- Copycats CAN'T win the game by revealing BB's identity.
- If BB wins, the copycats win (civilians only.)

--------------------------------------------------
Investigative Team - The people whose job is to deduce which of you is BB from the killings and actions of BB. These are the people that BB must kill to win the game. BB will be among you in secret.
- To capture BB, all of the other investigative team members must agree on who is BB and declare their arrest.
- Investigative team members may not kill other people, as their job is to save lives and not destroy them.
- After three kills from BB, the investigative team reserves the right to imprison a member of the team for up to 7 days (the team member must be chosen by a popular vote, of course). The imprisoned team member MUST be released before the 7th day ends. This power may be used at any time after BB's first 3 kills, and must be invoked by popular vote.
- Imprisoned team members may not make any actions, including taking part in voting and obviously murdering if they're BB. Unlike jailed members, they may still post in the thread.
- Once every seven kills (by any means), the Investigative Team must add ONE civilian to their numbers. This is done by popular vote. People added this way gain full rights as an Investigative Team member, including the right to vote.
-------------------------------------------------
L - The ace investigator whose sole purpose is to discover BB's identity and bring him to justice.
- The role of L is chosen by the Shinigami at the start of the game. If you are interested in being L, PM the Shinigami prior to the game. The chosen L will usually be somebody that the Shinigami believes will present the biggest challenge for the chosen BB.
- Every three kills by BB, L is allowed to give an announcement through Naomi Misora, thus giving L the ability to convey his thoughts, opinions, and evidence without giving away his identity and making himself a target for BB.
- L is not a required kill for BB to win the game. In fact, he CAN'T be killed as he never comes out into the open.
- Every 3 deaths (by any means) L gains the right to jail any ONE person himself for up to 7 days.
- L is allowed to vote in the Investigation Team's public popular vote decisions, and his vote counts for two people.
- L may not kill other players.
- L will work THROUGH Naomi Misora via PMs CCed to the Shinigami, he will never actually show his face during the game. In fact, he won't even be listed on the roster.
-------------------------------------------------
Misora Naomi - An FBI agent who will assist L during the investigation.
- Naomi Misora is chosen by the Shinigami at the start of the game. Naomi and L will both be in contact with each other via PMs CCed to the Shinigami.
- Naomi Misora will be L's personal assistant. Speaking to L directly through cell phone usage.
- If Naomi is killed by BB 1/4 of the investigative team will become civilians (decided by random dice roll.)
- If the Naomi Misora is dead, L will be notified, and he/she will have to reveal himself.
- Naomi Misora may not kill other players.
[*]Naomi Misora's votes count as 2 votes.
-------------------------------------------------
Civilians - Civilians are just regular people who aren't a part of the investigative team, and are just normal people. Civilians are broken up into two secret factions: copycats and Investigation supporters.
- All Civilians must PM the Shinigami with their allegiance preference. To make things easier, the PM title should read either "Civilian: copycat" or "Civilian: Investigation Supporter"
- For the sake of balance, please include whether or not you would be open to switching your alliegance. I plan to keep the ratio of copycats and Investigative Supporters as close to 1:1 as possible.
- Civilians may not take part in the Investigative Team's popular votes.
- Civilians really shouldn't go revealing their
-------------------------------------------------
Copycats - See the above rules/descriptions.
-------------------------------------------------
Investigation Supporters - Investigation Supporters are civilians who seek the protection of the investigation team and wish to see BB captured. Part of being an Investigation Supporter is making sure the Investigative Team does not recruit copycat killers.
- Investigation Supporters may attempt to kill other civilians, but must keep in mind that there is a penalty if they fail. Jail time is 3 to 5 days.
- Investigation Supporters may become copycat killers at any time they desire, but they can never return to the role of a supporter.
- Investigation Supporters must follow any orders given to them by L. Other players may do the same if they wish to make themselves appear to be investigation supporters.
- If the Investigative Team wins, their supporters win.
-------------------------------------------------
Dead People - Those that have been killed either by BB or by other civilians.
- For the sake of making sure there's no confusion, if you're dead, post in red. And keep in mind, your input means practically nothing, as you are quite dead.
- Dead people are not allowed to discuss their roles in the game, or any other vital information relating to the game.
- For the love of God, don't use being dead as an excuse to goof off. Either be a productive dead person, or don't post.
-------------------------------------------------
Additional Rules:Signing Up - Signing up for a position does not guarantee that you will get the requested position. Two situations may arise: 1) If you sign up for the Investigative Team, and I believe that you will not be active enough for the position, I may not allow it. 2) If a civilian alignment has too many people, I may transfer you to the other team to keep the ratio of Copycats and Investigative Supporters as close to 1:1 as possible.
Murder Attempts - To further protect the identity of BB, any deaths carried out by any person's own means (without being BB or a copycat) must also be carried out by me, the Shinigami. YOU MUST PM THE SHINIGAMI IF YOU WISH TO PHYSICALLY KILL SOMEBODY FOR ANY REASON. Whether or not these deaths are successful is determined by the Shinigami.
Life Saving - If someone is suspicious enough to where you believe someone is about to murder them, a civilian has the ability to save their life. This is done by PM'ing the person whose life is to be saved to the Shinigami. The success of this is determined by the Shinigami. If no outstanding death threats have been made on the chosen person, this action will fail and could possibly result in adverse effects.
Information - When the Shinigami announces a murder, sometimes not all possible information about the death will be revealed. Investigation of the murder scene, victim, and other factors may be required. In order to gain more information about a murder or death, PM the Shinigami about your attempt to investigate. The Shinigami will then make a decision and PM back any information that was successfully gathered. A crime scene will deteriorate as more people check it based on what was searched for and/or taken. Information checks may be performed by ANY player, including civilians.
Jail system - Crimes committed will net people jail time. Those in jail cannot make any action, and may not post in the thread until their jail sentence is up. And no mention of prison buttsex. Leave that stuff to yourselves. The Shinigami reserves the right to jail anyone that they believe is being abusive, annoying, or otherwise trying to screw the game up for other people.
