Whoopsy. My bad.

Anyhoo, I've finally made the decision to return my LCD and go for the PN42A450 720p Plasma, The color, blacks and response time beat out the LCD, the only downside is the slight loss in detail due to the slightly lower res, but I can live with that.

Also, i was thinking about getting a Panasonic 1080p 42" Plasma, since the PS3 and 360 'support' 1080p...but the thing is, the Games 'dont', they're 720p native(well there are a couple of games out that are 1080p, whoopie), so what happens is the games get upscaled to 1080p...And i'm pretty sure the Wii(being at 480p) games being upscaled to 1080p would look pretty nasty.

Because you've earned it:

hah, I smiled :-D

And what can I say, I'm one picky bastard when it comes to buying TVs. And it's confusing when you have people saying 'no go for LCD because there's no burn or picture glare and this and that' or 'No way, Plasmas have better Picture Quality and no ghosting' blah blah, Whatever, i've already made my decision >

zee' Samsung PN50A450 50" 720p Plasma

Thee' End :durnk: :-?

Do you ever get tired of looking up to see all the stuff that flies over your head? Just curious.

Hmph. I thought samsung only makes LCD, other manufacturers like LG makes the plasma for them.

Anyways, I've a 37" LG LCD, 50" LG plasma, and 43" CRT projection. And to be honest, other than size differences, I see no discernible difference in quality between all three of them, and they're all 720p native.

They're all good in terms of HD resolutions. I don't see why people get all fussy over it. Just go to big box stores and look at display models and choose the one you like, I only look at the spec sheets for natives res, then look up further once the TV is purchased.

Yeah, those samsung LED DLP looks pretty sexy. Saw a 61" on display and it was a beauty (no more lamp crap!), they stripped pretty much all the major issues from the early lamp based DLPs (viewable angles, response time, lamp replacement, color wheel noise)

Buy a 1987 13 inch wood grain Emerson and be done with it. Nothing will ever get better for gaming then that.

Totaly, the LED DLPs are pretty damn nice, but their contrast ratio/black performance isn't the greatest, it's in the same league as LCD or even worse than the higher end models and again, too bad they don't have any sizes below 50"
But ya, i've already made my pick, a 50" 720p Plasma, so it's all good.

And again, people will be saying Plasma, DLP, LCD what? Once LaserVue comes out in around a month

Dude I saw one of these the other day, I was really tempted. My issue with DLP has always been the viewable angles and that still hasn't changed :\ BUT, I think if I had a room set up for it (no angled seating) it'd be really awesome. Especially with those prices.

I've got to ask, though ...

hah, my bad, did i make a booboo?
ya...You have seen the new Samsung Touch of Color LCD series havent you? they offer the best blacks for an LCD and are probably comparable or maybe even better than the best DLPs I'm guessing. And when i said 'isn't the greatest' I didn't mean their blacks blow, i ment they're not quite as good as Plasma

The buying experience? You're not good enough to know the 'Waveboy' buying experience.
hell i'm honestly in and out, I would hate spending alot of time in a store deciding on what HDTV to buy out of the zillion different displays they have, so i check out Bestbuy online, or what people have to say on the net about the tv i'm interested in, or see reviews on it and so on so I don't have to waste too much time comparing a bunch of tvs...
Is that good enough for ya Ratixy? I'm sorry if it wasn't mind blowiningly wave-toobular like you would of imagined

Wow, that's the exact of opposite of how I buy TVs LOLOLOLOL

I just go to the hugest store and most TV's on displays and play with them and compare and choose the best looking one. Specs, and opinions don't mean shit to me.

anyways wow, I thought people getting too caught up in PCs are bad, but wow, TVs too?

Oh no i totaly compare, it's just good to check out some reviews online to get a general idea before buying, like going to CNET.com for example.

I once watched a review on CNET.com for a tv.

It seemed like the guy was just reading the specs off of a piece of paper.

As far as knowledgeable reviews, I'd have to say they're not what to look for.

I did the exact same thing, because that's exactly what they do. Then the reviewer might comment on how he thinks it is or isn't a better TV because the black plastic is shiny.
